Waterbar restaurant is pleased to announce that it has raised $10,000 as a result of its Oyster Giveback Campaign, in which five cents from each oyster sold at the restaurant is donated directly to charities that champion the bay and the local community. One hundred percent of all proceeds will be donated to The Watershed Project, which focuses on sustaining and rebuilding the oyster population in the Bay Area.
Waterbar’s Oyster Giveback Campaign, which kicked off in June 2014, names a new beneficiary every quarter. From October 1 through December 31, 2014, five cents from all oyster sales will be donated to the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund, which was created by the Napa Valley Vintners (NVV), a nonprofit trade association, to help meet the immediate needs of local residents and businesses impacted by the 6.0 temblor. NVV has partnered with the Napa Valley Community Foundation (NVCF), a public charity with experience in responding to community needs, to administer the disaster relief fund.
With its popular central oyster bar, Waterbar serves approximately 2,000 oysters per day and has served more than two million oysters since opening in January 2008. Known for offering the freshest sustainable seafood available, Waterbar showcases the most eclectic selection of oysters in San Francisco. Capitalizing on strong relationships with farmers, the restaurant often is able to feature oysters available only at Waterbar.
The ever-popular daily featured oysters and “Come Unhinged!” happy hour offers featured oysters for only $1.05 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily. The price increases to $2.05 beginning at 5:30 p.m. The featured oyster changes each day, typically highlighting a locally sourced oyster.
Waterbar’s Oyster Give Back Program runs continuously with a new benefactor named each quarter. Program funds will benefit the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund from October 1 through December 31, 2014.
