Einsiedler Bier is known throughout Switzerland as one of the Europe’s finest breweries but to enjoy a cold one you have to hop on a plane as they exclusively distribute their beers within Swiss borders — until now. Stable, Washington DC’s first Swiss-American restaurant, is proud to announce the addition to two Einsiedler beers to their beverage list. Stable is the first and only establishment outside of Switzerland to have the privilege of carrying the Einsiedler brand.
Founded in 1872, Einsiedler Bier is one of Switzerland’s only remaining privately owned breweries. Stable’s Executive Chef, David Fritsche, grew up in the town where Einsiedler is based and thus has a lifelong connection to the iconic beer maker.
Beginning today, guests can head over to Stable will be serving Einsiedler’s Swiss Dark (ALC 5.2%) and Swiss Spelt (ALC 4.5%.) Both beers are very “drinkable” and pair well with almost anything on Stable’s menu. While co-owner Silvan Kraemer compare the Swiss Dark beer to an American Lager, he says the Swiss Spelt is “unlike anything you’ve ever had” here in the U.S.
Located in the heart of the District’s bustling H Street Corridor, Stable is a uniquely authentic European dining experience that serves traditional and modern Swiss-American food. The cozy eatery boasts a charming “après ski” vibe thanks to high ceilings, exposed brick, blonde wood and pillow-lined banquettes.
Stable’s menu, which is inspired by Fritsche & Kraemer’s childhoods in the Swiss Alps, perfectly fuses American and Swiss cuisines. Essential ingredients are imported from Switzerland but most are locally and sustainable sourced at the peak of freshness. While Stable’s offerings change frequently in order to maintain the highest quality and innovation, highlights from the current menu include Cheese and Apple Spätzli with Crispy Onions, Pan Seared Scallops with Cranberry Knödel, Swiss Chard, Lemon & Cranberry Jus, Zürich-style Veal with Potato Rösti & Champingons Cream Sauce and Traditional Swiss Cheese Fondue made with a tantalizing blend of Schlossberger Old, Schlossberger Young and Vercherin Cheeses.
Stable is located at 1324 H St. NE in Washington, DC. Reservations can made by calling 202.733.4604.
