Conferences address issues from climate change to cannabis
Among the most critical topics on the conference, agenda is Global Climate Change and the Wine Industry. International energy and climate change expert John P. Holdren PhD will lead a discussion of the growing impact of rising global temperatures on everything from grape quality to vineyard costs to shifting grape-growing borders. Holdren is Harvard University’s Teresa & John Heinz Professor of Environmental Policy and a former senior advisor to President Obama.
Also on the line-up is Other Emerging Technologies in the Wine and Spirits Industry, exploring the role B2B and B2C technological solutions play in helping brands navigate the increasingly complex alcoholic beverage landscape. Trends in the U.S. Wine Market will look at everything from the continued rise of rosé and sparkling wines to the potential impact of legal cannabis on the wine industry, while Role of Imports in the U.S. Market will investigate the impact of currency fluctuations and evolving consumer tastes on imported wine sales. The full conference schedule and details on panelists are available here.
Champagnes and a study of glass shape join the Master Class program
New additions to the 2019 Master Class program include an exploration of the effect of a glass’s shape on the wine it holds. Led by Reidel North America’s Anne Koziara, See, Smell, Taste the Difference a Glass Makes is a can’t-miss class for sommeliers, beverage directors and mixologists. Another introduces attendees to five exceptional Champagnes in Champagne Growers, a Special Expertise, an Expression of Champagne’s Terroir, with its Multiplicity of Nuances. The full master class line-up is available here.
