More than $6,000 Donated to NSPCA and Veganuary from 19 Restaurant Partners
The first of its kind vegan dining month, Veganuary Las Vegas presented by Vegans Baby, ended its inaugural run netting more than $6,000 in donations to the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) and the international Veganuary organization.
The citywide vegan movement created by Vegans, Baby founder Diana Edelman, challenged local restaurants to create vegan menu items to cater to individuals taking the international Veganuary pledge to go vegan the first of the year, helping to raise awareness to the plant-based lifestyle and encourage Las Vegas to become a part of the year’s fastest growing culinary trend.
Throughout the month, thousands of people across the Valley visited Veganuary Las Vegas restaurant partners, resulting in nearly 5,000 vegan dishes consumed and sales of more than $55,000 across 19 restaurants.
“I am so proud of the response we received for our first year of Veganuary Las Vegas, and for the opportunity to partner with local restaurants to bring awareness to the vegan dining scene and lifestyle as it continues to explode in the city,” said Edelman. “Veganuary Las Vegas doesn’t stop here; the mission of Vegans, Baby is to continuously provide comprehensive resources that highlight and cater to the vegan lifestyle. This event helped position Las Vegas as a leader in the vegan movement in the U.S.
In synergy with the international month-long challenge for people to try vegan life, Veganuary Las Vegas brought awareness to the demands of plant-based diners in the Valley and also helped to show restaurant owners the need to cater to them.
“We are honored to be part of a movement that advocates for a conscious and healthy lifestyle, something that resonates deeply with our family,” said Ann Alenik, Pasta Shoppe Ristorante & Art Gallery owner. “It was beautiful to watch our city come together with eagerness and pride to support Veganuary and the spectacular restaurants that participated in the month-long celebration of plant-based living.”
