Thompson Central Park New York announces today the appointment of David Joo as the hotel’s Executive Chef, overseeing culinary direction for the luxury lifestyle property’s renowned food and beverage program, from the signature restaurant Parker’s, curating the offering in the exclusive Upper Stories Lounge, to in-room dining, catering and events.

Executive Chef David Joo brings over 15 years of distinguished expertise as he joins Thompson Central Park from The Peninsula New York, where he served as Sous Chef before advancing to Executive Chef, orchestrating five-star luxury dining experiences for guests from around the world, while showcasing his prowess in menu engineering and gastronomic innovation. His dedication to uncompromising quality and artful attention to detail have positioned him as a tastemaker in the realm of luxury hotel dining.
Prior to his career with Peninsula New York, Chef Joo spent many years with critically-acclaimed chefs and restaurateurs, from working with Drew Nieporent at Tribeca Grill to Starr Restaurant Group, Loews Regency Hotel and the kitchens of Chef Daniel Boulud, Chef Tom Colicchio and Chef April Bloomfield.
Well known in the industry for his passion and refinement of the culinary arts, Chef Joo holds diplomas from the French Culinary Institute and the Culinary Institute of America. Joo has been recognized for his achievements by the culinary press, having been featured in Port Magazine and Town & Country Magazine, while serving as a culinary contributor for Bon Appétit.

Thompson Central Park New York was reimagined in 2021 and completed a full renovation last year. The signature restaurant, Parker’s, offers upscale cocktails and bites accompanied by live jazz. Thompson Central Park is also home to Burger Joint, a low-key treasure consistently ranked among New York’s best burgers. Chef Joo will also be curating the offerings in the Upper Stories Lounge, part of the Upper Stories premium accommodation experience. The Upper Stories Lounge features a daily celebration of seasonal and local ingredients for the premier tower’s guests and the One11 Residents. The 587-key hotel also has a bustling 24-hour in-room dining program, featuring a decadent burger right from Burger Joint.
