Over 200 Exhibiting Wine and Spirit Producers and Gold Medal Winners from Sommelier International Wine Challenge in Attendance on November 22, 2013
One of the Festival’s most time-honored traditions, The Vault: Reserve & New Release Tasting, makes a re-appearance at the 10th Annual San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival. The exclusive and elegant evening for collectors of fine wine takes place at the San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina on Friday, November 22 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. This year, the wine and food festival is changing up the format of The Vault by offering two separate sampling tiers, said Michelle Metter, co-producer of the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival.
“The first tier will allow wine enthusiasts to sample from over 200 exhibiting wine and spirit producers as well as the Gold Medal Winners from September’s Sommelier International Wine Challenge,” added Metter. “The second, and most exclusive tier titled, ‘The Collection,’ is curated by Official Festival Artist Thomas Arvid, and will highlight highly allocated wines with limited access to consumers. We consider this second tasting tier to be a special treat for boutique wine and art lovers-especially given the opportunity to meet Arvid in ‘The Collection’.”
General admission ticketholders will be able to sample from over 200 exhibiting wine and spirit producers as well as the Gold Medal Winners from September’s Sommelier International Wine Challenge. The Gold Medal Winners-deemed so by a prestigious panel of Certified Sommeliers from New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and San Diego-are some of the best wines in the world.
Thomas Arvid is an internationally renowned art world phenomenon known for his iconic paintings that celebrate the enjoyment surrounding the wine experience. With his art represented in over 40 galleries in North America and a four-year wait for original paintings, “The Collection” is the perfect opportunity to get a glimpse of Arvid’s artistic process. Arvid will host the private curated room for 100 elite guests, where “The Collection” attendees will taste from the wines featured in 2013 Official Festival Artwork, “Just In Case,” in addition to some other highly allocated wines. Wineries in “The Collection” include David Arthur Vineyards, Chateau Montelena, Insignia, Paul Hobbs, Louis Latour, and more.
The Vault also features a silent auction with items such as large format bottles, libraries, and decanters take the spotlight. The proceeds of the auction will benefit culinary arts and enology scholarships award by The American Institute of Wine & Food’s San Diego Chapter. The food and wine festival has raised more than $228,700 for the AIWF scholarship program to date.
