Kathy Maghbouleh founded the Queens Bakery Café as a way to fill a niche that she felt was missing in Orange County, California. Since its inception in 2011, the Royal-themed bakery has continued to make a name for itself with its colorful and decorative interior, unique menu flavors and special attention to their ingredients.
“I opened the bakery because I noticed that there wasn’t a place you could go to just relax and enjoy a pastry, a delicious cup of tea or a sandwich. I wanted to fill that niche with an affordable and great place for people to experience,” said Maghbouleh.
The Bakery is locally known as the premiere venue for private parties and afternoon teas, and providing their customers with a healthy way to satisfy their sweet tooth. They have been seen on hit TV show Cupcake Wars and recently on CBS News demonstrating her signature decorating kits people can do at home with their families.
The bakery swears by “Queen Kathy’s” mottos, which include – everything from scratch all of the time; no trans-fat or hydrogenated oils of any sort; pure cane sugar always; no artificial flavors ever in our baking; no ingredients with preservatives; fresh, baked daily bread and treats.
Located in Costa Mesa, they were awarded the “2012 Critic’s Choice for Best Cupcakes” by the Orange County Register and feature a range of cupcake choices from Vanilla Coconut, Almond Amaretto, Chocolate Rosewater, Red Velvet, Orange Mojito, Chocolate Chipotle, to Margarita as well as traditional flavors prepared daily by Head Chef Rami Haj.
“Whatever I give to my daughters I give to my customers. I believe in the ‘old-school’ way that everything should be prepared all naturally and from scratch,” said Chef Haj. “I believe in that kind of quality and want to be able to provide that.”
Chef Haj’s culinary background is heavily influenced by Europe where he studied and worked including five years at Fabbri Master Class in Bologna, Italy.
The Queen’s Bakery events are most noted for their fun interactive cupcake, cookie or cake decorating parties, along with traditional Bridal Shower, Mother’s Day and Birthday Celebrations for groups of 10-40. They are sure to be popular with groups booking tea parties around the birth of the Royal Baby this coming July.
“My local community is important to me and I take pride in being able to provide a special and stress-free environment,” said Maghbouleh.
