The Dish & Dram presents a Coffee & Tea program featuring women-owned business. The program launches October 1, 2018 with 15 percent of sales of French Press coffee and bags of their branded coffee donated to the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center for the month of October for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
They will be serving four coffees roasted for them by the local DC Southeastern Roastery whose coffees are certified by the Specialty Coffee Association. Owner and founder Candy Schibli brings high quality coffees to markets through environmentally and socially conscious in country producers and local importers.
Mexican Chiapas is a mild medium-dark roast balanced coffee with strong cocoa and chocolate flavors with hints of cashew and brown sugar. The bean is from Tapachula. The Ethiopian Guji is a dark sweet roast with flavors of lychee and strawberry and a tangy brightness. This coffee is from the southern Sidam, Oromia region of Ethiopia. The Nicaraguan Red Catuai is a bright yet balanced creamy coffee at its best as a light roast. It has vegetable flavors of sweet green pepper and tomato.
The Nicaraguan and Ethiopian coffees will be available as a French Press for $4 and as a one pound bag for $14.50. The Mexican coffee will be their daily “cuppa,” for $2.25.
The Dish & Dram also partnered with Great Falls Tea Garden to create a tantalizing list of ten teas, including a rotating selection of blooming flower tea balls served in a glass pot. In addition, owner Laurie Bell created two unique specialty teas. The Dish & Dram Darjeeling, which is the “Champagne of Teas,” is an autumnal picked tea from the foothills of the Himalayas with fruity and floral notes and a medium body with a depth of flavor. The Kensington Grey is a softer and more complex version of traditional Earl Grey, brought to life with a rainbow of berry and flower petals and a touch of vanilla. All teas are served in a press for $5.
“As a woman-owned business and active member of Women Chefs and Restaurateurs, I am excited to partner with these businesses, especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month,’’ said The Dish & Dram co-owner Zena Polin.
Southeastern Roastery currently roasts their beans onsite at Songbyrd Music House & Record Cafe located at 2475 18th St NW in Washington, DC’s Adams Morgan neighborhood.
