The Aster is pleased to unveil their new, invigorating culinary pop-up series, Food as Art. The highly inspired initiative welcomes world-class chefs to the space for immersive dining experiences, where attendees can expect never-before-seen dishes including one course that represents that particular Chef’s first memory of the arts. By exploring the intersection of artistic and culinary abilities, The Aster has designed a series that activates all of the senses – going far beyond taste.
Aster Members’ Club Launches Monthly ‘Food as Art’ Series with Top Chefs
Aligning with the property’s ethos, every participant in the series will be working with small purveyors and local farmers for the ingredients in their respective menus, including rare and international additions to courses. Wine pairings will also be available with a selection of unique biodynamic and sustainable options, alongside craft cocktails that lean into the artistic components of each meal. Food as Art kicked off this month with a three-day festivity in partnership with Chef Mads Refslund, co-founder of Copenhagen’s world-renowned restaurant, NOMA, and will welcome esteemed Chef Alvaro Clavijo next month.
The proud Founder of El Chato in Columbia, which was named fourth in Latin America’s 50 Best restaurants list, Chef Alvaro Clavijo approaches each dish with a story in mind by blending unique flavors to honor the land and culture of the ingredients. After years of experience working with the best kitchens in Barcelona, Paris, New York City and Copenhagen, Chef Alvaro will bring his avante-garde twist on classic Latin American flavors to Los Angeles in the form of a five-course dinner from May 26th through May 28th, 2023.
In June, Chef Najat Kaanache will serve up her exquisite Moroccan-inspired cuisine at The Aster as the third participant in the Food as Art series. A pioneer of the culinary world, Kaanache is known for her beautiful plates that are inspired by her extensive travels through the Middle East and South America. Now, Kaanache is the host of AMC Networks’ cooking series, Cocina Marroqui, and the Chef-owner of Nur in Northeast Morocco. Chef Kaanache will be popping-up at The Aster from June 24th to 26th, 2023.
”The Food as Art series is our way of bringing world class talent to our gorgeous rooftop. As a purpose-driven club, it is our mission to partner with exceptional creatives who care deeply about sustainability and the earth, and we are thrilled to welcome some of the most talented and diverse Chefs on the planet to our space,” shares Managing Director, Mark Somen.
