TEXSOM International Wine Awards Promotes Winners
Sommelier-Selected Medal Winners Featured on Website and at TEXSOM Conference
Dallas, Texas (May 19, 2015) –– Co-founders and Master Sommeliers Drew Hendricks and James Tidwell announced that the TEXSOM organization will promote a selection of winning wines from the 2015 TEXSOM International Wine Awards as featured selections on both DallasWineComp.com and at the upcoming TEXSOM 2015 Conference.
Unique among all other wine competitions, the TEXSOM International Wine Awards involved 28 sommeliers (separate from the judges) and two editors who have written detailed descriptions of a selection of gold medal winners. Beginning this month and each subsequent month, TEXSOM will post a group of roughly 30 of these notes to the “Featured Wines” section of TEXSOM International Wine Awards website (DallasWineComp.com).
“We feel that all award-winning wines from the TEXSOM International Wine Awards deserve the opportunity to be celebrated and highlighted,” said Tidwell. “By offering a selection of featured wines on the website and pouring the wines at the TEXSOM 2015 Conference, we are giving trade and consumers a chance to see beyond the medals. Our Sommeliers’ Panel gives greater insight and depth to the conversation, focusing on why these are very special wines.”
In addition to promotion on the website, a selection of sommelier-selected, medal-winning wines will be highlighted in two hospitality suites at the TEXSOM 2015 Conference taking place August 8 -10, 2015 at the Four Seasons Resort & Club in Las Colinas, Texas. Celebrating its eleventh year, TEXSOM is the most prominent and influential wine education conference in the United States. The hospitality suites are open to more than 700 sommelier and trade attendees at the conference, and offer a unique setting to sample new wines.
Attendees at the TEXSOM 2015 Conference will also have the opportunity to read about a selection of TEXSOM International Wine Awards medal-winning wines in the conference program, which will include articles and descriptions about the competition and the wines. More than 1,000 sommelier, trade, media, and high-value consumers are expected to attend the TEXSOM 2015 Conference.
ABOUT TEXSOM
Founded in 2005, TEXSOM was started by Master Sommeliers James Tidwell and Drew Hendricks to help promote professional wine service standards, outline paths for further wine education and certification, and raise public awareness about the professional standards and certifications for sommeliers. Today the conference draws a total of 1,000 attendees, of whom 700 are sommeliers and other beverage industry professionals. The TEXSOM group purchased the competition now known as the TEXSOM International Wine Awards in April 2014. One of the largest, most respected, and longest-running in the United States, the competition was founded in 1985 by journalist and wine expert Rebecca Murphy.
