Trump International Hotel & Tower® Chicago is thrilled to announce the next phase of evolution for its 16th floor dining space – Terrace 16 Restaurant & Bar, helmed by Michelin lauded Executive Chef Nick Dostal and Restaurant Director Adam Stark.
Terrace 16 represents both the unification and balance of the restaurant’s interior and exterior dining spaces. This integration allows for a cohesive menu echoed throughout, and showcases a new take on the expertly prepared fare for which its Michelin rated culinary team has become renowned.
With Latin root “terr”, meaning earth, Terrace 16 celebrates vibrant flavors borne of the land. Chef Dostal believes in allowing ingredients to speak simply and powerfully for themselves. An avid gardener and forager, he has created an impressive terrace garden adjacent to the restaurant that increases in size every year. With dozens of vegetable and herb varieties grown onsite, the garden’s bounty will inspire his soon-to-be revealed, new American menu – both at the height of harvest and year-round via preserved specialties and meaningful relationships with like-minded growers nationwide.
Elevating Chicago River dining, Terrace 16 champions one of the most stunning attributes found in Chicago restaurants: A 200-seat, inviting outdoor patio, which has enamored thousands of guests for the past ten years with its breathtaking views of Chicago’s prized architecture, the winding Chicago River and awe-inspiring Lake Michigan. Now considered a cohesive entity under Chef Dostal’s purview, the restaurant’s indoor dining room will capture the spirit of Chicago’s glorious summer months year-round with a warm design transformation, convivial bar, unmatched vistas and an ever-changing menu whose ingredients shine bright during breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner services.
Menu items will be created with the superb culinary technique that lives in Chef Dostal’s DNA, featuring touches from the garden. Including a range of dishes from tapas-style small plates and starters to large, shareable entrees, menu highlights include:
- Ora King Salmon | charred cucumber, deli spices, dill yoghurt
- Garden Toast | wasabi tobiko, charred scallion, spring peas
- Sweet Corn Pasta | chanterelle and chili pepper
- Tagliatelle | lemon ricotta, egg yolk, bottarga
- Crispy Chicken | potato salad, hot sauce
- Black Cod | green onion sauce, cipollini onion, patty pan squash
The full menu will debut in the coming weeks.
With construction underway, the grand opening is slated for summer 2018 and will include a large dining room bar – a focal point for socializing and enjoying both classic and innovative cocktail creations. Dynamic seating options throughout the dining room will offer high tops, tables and banquettes, creating one of the top restaurants and lounges in Chicago. The floors and furnishings will undergo a complete redesign, save the magnificent views overlooking the iconic skyline, Chicago River and Lake Michigan.
