Your Favorite Neighborhood Hotspot is BACK with a Whole New BANG!
WHO/WHAT:
Ladies & Gentleman, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for…local’s favorite neighborhood bar Sweet Liberty Drinks & Supply Co. is finally RE-OPENING and welcoming a brand-new face to the team! World-renowned bartender and widely published food & drinks writer, Naren Young, will be joining Sweet Liberty’s bar team as the new Creative Beverage Director. As the first to uphold this role since Sweet Liberty’s founding father, John Lermayer’s passing, Young is extremely passionate and eager to take on such an immensely prestigious title and has been welcomed with open arms by the beloved bar family.
“After a trying 7-month period patiently waiting for this moment to come, we really couldn’t be more excited to finally say that we are officially re-opening Sweet Liberty’s doors,” said Dan Binkiewicz, local bar veteran and partner in Sweet Liberty Drinks & Supply Company. “As a part of our brand DNA, we are always trying to find ways to better ourselves in the genuine pursuit of happiness, and now we have the amazing opportunity of adding Naren Young to our bar team and family. With Naren’s history working with Dante and his longtime friendship with John Lermayer, we really couldn’t think of a better fit than him as the next Creative Director of Sweet Liberty, and helping to catapult Miami’s favorite neighborhood bar to a new level of excellence that we strive to meet day after day, year after year.”
Beginning Thursday, November 24th, Sweet Liberty will be re-opening their doors to the public with a brand-spankin’-new cocktail menu, carefully curated and implemented by Naren Young himself. Naren brings over 25 years of experience in the bar & hospitality industry to the Sweet Liberty team. Previously recognized as ‘The Cocktail Guy’ for the Avroko Hospitality Group in New York, Naren created and oversaw the cocktail programs at all five of their U.S properties, which under his guidance, led to several highly-esteemed accolades at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards for multiple years in a row. Most notably in 2019, Naren steered Dante NYC into the #1 top spot on the list, titling the bar as the official ‘World’s Best Bar.’ Naren himself was also a finalist for American Bartender of the Year and Drinks Writer of the Year in 2016 and was nominated four times as one of the top four drinks writers in the world at the Tales of the Cocktail Awards.
“Sweet Liberty has long had a special place in my heart,” said Naren Young. “This crew are my family. So, for me, it’s a fitting move professionally but also a fitting tribute to our friend John [Lermayer] by carrying on his legacy at this special bar that he created. I’m beyond excited to partner with Dan, David and their entire team to carry this torch forward and breathe new life into what is already one of America’s great bars. Despite the adversity of this year, it’s an exciting time to get creative and be inspired and hopeful for the bar industry in Miami and across the country. We’re going to rebuild Sweet Liberty as strong as it ever as and we’ll be there to fully support our friends and colleagues across this city as they also rebuild their own bars and show how strong and creative the bar community in Miami is.”
Sweet Liberty will also be reopening with a revived food menu by the much-loved James Beard Award winning chef, Michelle Bernstein. The star chef, named best chef in the South by the James Beard Foundation in 2008, will be adding several new seasonal additions to the menu, which will all be available for guests to indulge in beginning Thursday, November 24th.
