The Zislis Group has promoted Shaunna McKelvey to general manager at its 38-room, award-winning Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach, according to a recent announcement by Michael Zislis, owner.
McKelvey, a 12-year hospitality industry veteran, will oversee all hotel room, events and food and beverage operations at the popular celebrity hideaway. She previously served as the property’s director of food and beverage.
During the course of her career, McKelvey has worked at Montes Raw Bar and Fine Dining Restaurant in Miami as well as Mango’s Tropical Cantina and Amnesia night club in South Beach. She also held management positions at both Play Lounge and Velvet Lounge in Fort Lauderdale. She returned to her native Manhattan Beach home in 2007 to work at Shade Hotel where she has served as events coordinator, lounge manager and food and beverage director before reaching the general manager position. McKelvey holds a Bachelor’s degree from University of California, Los Angeles.
