EPIC Steak, San Francisco’s waterfront steakhouse located on the scenic Embarcadero, is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Mollerstrom as executive pastry chef. With more than 15 years of experience in the pastry industry, she will lead the pastry program while collaborating closely with the existing culinary team to offer guests balanced and sophisticated desserts that complement the menu of reimagined steakhouse favorites.
“Sarah is brimming with knowledge and passion for her craft and is a tremendous talent,” said Brian Walsh, general manager of EPIC Steak. “Her dedication and creativity are evident in her beautiful desserts; we are thrilled to welcome her to our team.”
Mollerstrom began her career as a pastry cook at Kensington Bistro in Albany, Ca. where she produced all breakfast pastry items for the property. Her eagerness to learn new skills brought Sarah to Limon Rotisserie in 2007, a Peruvian restaurant in San Francisco that taught Mollerstrom about Latin American flavors. She then served on pastry teams at other Bay Area restaurants including Foreign Cinema in San Francisco and Corso Trattoria in Berkeley, as well as local catering companies. During those years and working at various restaurants, Sarah mastered Italian desserts, pizza dough and vegan and gluten free recipes.
In 2015, Sarah took a chance on a new path and accepted a position at Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco’s Union Square where she oversaw all banquet events. Following two years in that role, she moved to Palm Springs where she started as the executive pastry chef at The Rowan Hotel and managed the pastry department, including two restaurants and room service. After further mastering her skills, she decided to return to the Bay Area to join the team at EPIC Steak.
In her new role, Mollerstrom will continue developing new techniques and exercising her creativity to put forth pastries that represent her culinary journey and unique point of view.
