SAMMY’S WOODFIRED PIZZA & GRILL FIRES UP THE OVENS ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST

SAMMY’S WOODFIRED PIZZA & GRILL, a Southern California favorite from restaurateur Sami Ladeki, is getting ready to expand across Southwestern United States. Originally opened in 1989 in La Jolla, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza & Grill was the first restaurant in San Diego to introduce the wood burning oven. The concept became a fast favorite, and over the next two decades, Sammy’s opened 18 locations across Southern California and Nevada. Today, Sammy’s is continuing to take region by storm and is gearing up to open several new locations this year, making their Los Angeles debut this May on Studio City’s Ventura Boulevard. From there, Sammy’s plans to open in Los Angeles International Airport’s American Airlines Terminal in late spring of 2012, as well as, in Las Vegas McCarren International Airport’s new Terminal 3 in the fall of 2012. The Green Valley Parkway location in Las Vegas, scheduled for opening in December 2012, will feature one of the most spectacular outdoor patios in Vegas, as well as a Tavern, Sammy’s gaming room component.

Known for their global cuisine, Executive Chef Moogk uses his experience to build and continually evolve the exciting and diverse menu, including Tapas, Pizzas, Pastas, Soups & Salads, and grilled Entrees. Tapas include an assortment of small bites such as Mini Duck Tacos with Feta, Tomato, Cabbage & Tomato-Cilantro Sauce; and Artichoke Fritters with Romano, Herbed Goat Cheese & Creamy Ranch; and Japanese Style Chicken Meatballs with Japanese Tare Sauce & Pickled Cucumber Salad. Pizza makes up the greater part of the menu with styles ranging from Woodfired to Artisan Thin Crust. Options include Royal Hawaiian Woodfired Pizza with Gold Pineapple, Rosemary Ham, Mozzarella, Fresno Chili, Mint & Housemade Tomato Sauce; Organic Arugula & Pear Woodfired Pizza with Prosciutto, Gorgonzola & Organic Arugula Salad tossed in Balsamic Basil Dressing; LaDou’s Barbeque Chicken Pizza with Smoked Provolone, BBQ Sauce, Red Onion & Cilantro; Raclette & Fingerling Potato Artisan Thin Crust Pizza with Applewood Smoked Bacon; and Bianco Artisan Thin Crust Pizza with Smoked Provolone, Mozzarella & Gorgonzola. Sammy’s abundance of composed salads include Red Quinoa with Gold Beets, Organic Grape Tomatoes, Avocado, Red Onion, Wild Arugula, Parsley, Mint, Scallions & Citrus Chili Vinaigrette; Local Strawberry & Snap Pea with Organic Field Greens, Toasted Almonds & Goat Cheese; and Spicy Singapore Chop with Chilled Chicken Breast, Napa Cabbage, Organic Greens, Carrots, Broccolini, Pea Shoots, Red Onion, Cilantro & Ginger Lime Dressing. Entrée items include an Oak Roasted Salmon Fillet with Organic Frisée Salad, Organic Cucumber, Edamame & Ponzu Sauce; Shrimp & Grits with Spanish Chorizo, Swiss Chard & Smoked Provolone; and Oak Roasted Chinese BBQ Duck Leg Confit with Wok’d Vegetables, Toasted Sesame Seeds & Hong Kong Scallions. Sammy’s pasta selection include Brown Rice Penne Bolognese with Beef Tomato Sauce & Shaved Romano; and Wild Shrimp Linguini with Carrot, Zucchini, Artichoke, Roasted Mushroom & White Wine Cream.
