Food and Beverage magazine “50 Women to Watch” member to build brand’s footprint in the Midwest
Sagamore Spirit, the award-winning Maryland-style rye that is leading its home state’s whiskey distilling revival, has named Jennifer Knott to lead sales efforts and account management in Chicago.
An industry veteran, Knott began her career tending bar in a daiquiri shop in the French Quarter of New Orleans, which quickly kindled her passion for adult beverages. Since then, she’s become a certified sommelier, served as a spirits judge for Tastings.com, worked with Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants to help spearhead bar and restaurant openings, and was named among the 50 Women to Watch by Food and Beverage magazine.
“I’ve been looking for the right opportunity to move to the other side of the bar, and Sagamore Spirit proved the perfect fit. Everyone in this brand’s family is in it together – a true believer in this super-cool Maryland rye – and I’m so incredibly excited to be onboard,” said Knott, who will serve as Key Account Manager. “When I first tried Sagamore Spirit’s signature 83-proof, I was just blown away, and am all-in to help this rye take flight in the Midwest, and beyond.”
Knott joins a team of entrepreneurs and risk takers. Like the brand itself, the distillers, marketers, distillery tour guides and others who have a hand in helping Sagamore Spirit stake its claim in the rye revival, all believe in the power of doing things differently.
“Our team is our brand, and we hire folks who understand that we don’t just make a great bottle of rye. We push boundaries and take smart risks, and we know that Jennifer will be doing exactly that in the Chicago area,” said Brian Treacy, President of Sagamore Spirit.

About Sagamore Spirit
Sagamore Spirit opened its award-winning five-acre waterfront distillery campus in Baltimore in April 2017. Since then, over 30,000 guests have visited the campus and tasted the brand’s 15-time award-winning rye whiskies. Each batch of whiskey is made with pure spring-fed Maryland water. The distillation team blends two different rye mash bills – a high rye and a low rye – and then adds limestone-filtered spring water transported 22 miles from Sagamore Farm, to create an 83 proof Maryland-style rye whiskey. 100 percent of Sagamore Rye is cut to proof with this distinct water. Sagamore Spirit also offers a Cask Strength whiskey that is 112 – 114 proof. Sagamore Spirit is committed to putting Maryland back on the map as the premier distiller of rye whiskey.
