This holiday season the team from Rreal Tacos will debut Feliz Navidad, a Christmas-themed bar blending Hispanic and American holiday traditions, on December 1. During December, the bars at each of Rreal Tacos’ five locations—Midtown, West Midtown, Chamblee, Sandy Springs and Cumming—will be transformed with over-the-top decorations, holiday-themed cocktails and a Christmas playlist that includes both Spanish and American classics.
Rreal Tacos Brings Latin American Flavors to the Holidays with Feliz Navidad Pop-Up Bars
“We saw this as an opportunity to show off our culture,” says Rreal Tacos beverage director Arturo Salgado “You don’t see a lot of Mexican concepts when it comes to holiday bars and knew it would be special to give our clientele a festive place to spend their December nights.”
Salgado, who’s originally from Mexico, has 10 years of bartending experience in both upscale and casual environments. He’s crafted a cocktail menu that brings together the flavors of Latin America with a fun, holiday twist.
“I’m most excited to show off our coquito El Rudolph,” he says about which of the cocktails is his favorite. “During Christmas, many families make and bottle coquito to give away as gifts, and we realized we could add tequila to it.”
Highlights of the Feliz Navidad cocktail menu include:
- Baby Jesus – Liquor 43, Borghetti Coffee liqueur and cinnamon simple syrup
- Dear Santa – spiced rum, Chinola, lime, pineapple juice, agave and vegan foamer
- Burrito Sabanero – tequila blanco, Bailey’s Irish Crème, hot water and chocolate
- El Rudolph – 1800 Coconut tequila, evaporated milk, condensed milk, Coco Lopez, vanilla extract and nutmeg
- La Posada – coconut rum, coconut milk, agave, lime and mint leaves
The traditional version includes evaporated milk vanilla and nutmeg, but at Feliz Navidad, guests can enjoy their coquito with coconut-flavored tequila. Salgado worked closely with Rreal Tacos’ bar manager Edwin Palacios to create the cocktail concepts for the holiday pop-up bar. They spent an evening grocery shopping and experimenting to come up with a cocktail menu that felt classic and fresh.
The staff is busy gathering decorations and transforming the bars. The entire team is involved in getting the holiday concept off the ground, and they’re having a lot of fun doing it. “It’s Christmas decorations on steroids,” adds Salgado. “We can’t wait to see our guests come in and see what they post on social media.”
