Prowine China 2018 Continues Course For Success

Prowine China 2018 Continues Course For SuccessFor its 6th edition, ProWine China, International Trade Fair for Wines and Spirits, is experiencing strong exhibit space demand from both international and national companies, continuing its successful development and promising to be larger than the 2017 event (700 companies from 39 nations – 30% increase compared to 2016 staging).  Featuring global wine and spirits, special events and live entertainment, ProWine China will take place from November 13 – 15, 2018 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC).

With rapid growth and diversification of China’s wine market, it’s not surprising that more exhibitors have already booked their stands than at the same time last year. South Africa’s pavilion made the start this year. France is again by far the largest country participation. Australia, Chile, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, Spain, Austria and Germany plan to significantly increase their participation in ProWine China in 2018.

This year’s largest individual exhibitors will include Les Grands Chais de France and the Union des Vignerons des Côtes du Rhône. Château Miraval, founded by actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, is a renowned newcomer. Other highlights will include the Champagne Lounge with various Champagne houses. Due to the strong demand from international and local exhibitors, the organizers of ProWine China expect an increase in exhibitors of around 15% compared to 2017.

Significant visitor increase expected from outside Shanghai

Due to numerous promotional activities and visitor campaigns, ProWine China has long been known to many trade visitors in China’s major cities. Last year, 50.1% of Chinese trade visitors came from outside Shanghai. The organizer will continue its city presentations with local partners to organize tasting events and masterclasses across China. This year the focus is mainly on Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming, Shenyang, Qingdao, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Beijing, Jinan, Xian, Zhanghzou, Dalian, Wuhan, Changsha, Hefei, Xiamen, Nanchang, Wulumuqi, Yinchuan, Tianjin and Shijiazhuang. Overall, visitor growth of around 20% is expected from all regions of China.

Diversified ancillary program
In addition to providing a first-class business-promoting platform for global wines and spirits producers in China, ProWine China also offers a varied ancillary program with its extensive onsite events, concentrated masterclasses, seminars and presentations held either directly at exhibitors’ stands or at the ProWine China Forum. For example, the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) will again offer a series of master classes on all three days of the trade fair.

At ProWine China 2018, the Industry Forum headed by Professor Li Demei will be devoted to the topic “Chinese Consumer Study – How to attract the attention of Chinese consumers”. There will also be a number of tasting  – at the Champagne Lounge,  the Decanter Asia Wine Awards as well as for the craft spirits and organic wine theme.

“ProWine China is the ideal setting for international exhibitors to capture the booming market in China in all its facets. Over the past five years, ProWine China has developed into a very successful business platform. Trade visitors will find numerous opportunities to successfully develop their business and gain a deep insight into the Chinese market. We want to continue this positive development in the coming years so that ProWine China remains such a powerful platform for the wine industry in China,” said Marius Berlemann, Director of ProWein and Global Head Wines & Spirits at Messe Düsseldorf.
