Paseo 17, the reimagined upscale boutique retail center located at the corner of East 17th Street and Westminster, is proud to announce the addition of two new food and beverage concepts to its dynamic mix of contemporary dining options. These local businesses are expanding their successful concepts, providing the community with even more opportunities to experience their offerings at locations throughout Orange County.
The first new addition, Mercado Mesa, is brought to life by Orange County local Summer Tarango, the founder of Mercado Laguna. Showcasing a celebration of everyday life with high-quality ingredients and thoughtful gifts, Mercado Mesa is set to raise the bar on prepared meal offerings with an emphasis on gluten-free options from signature homemade recipes. The community will enjoy a carefully curated selection of seasonal produce, local provisions, and balanced flavorful meals—both ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook. This one-stop shop for groceries, grab-and-go items and unique gifts is scheduled to open this fall at Paseo 17.
The second addition, Rye Goods, dreamt up by pastry chef Sara Lezama, is an organic sourdough bakery and deli that celebrates each season. Proudly utilizing 100% locally grown ingredients, Rye Goods transforms seasonal produce from small farms into goods for the whole community to savor. Rye Goods will be relocating from the original Lido Village location providing Lezama with more room to not only expand her menu, but to add a curated organic wine bar and wine shop as well. This new location at Paseo 17, scheduled to open in early 2025, will expand the Rye Goods lineup, joining two other locations across Orange County.
“Supporting local small business owners to grow their dream within Orange County is a true privilege,” said Bryon Ward, President of Burnham Ward Properties. “These in-demand concepts not only persevered, but thrived through a pandemic showcasing ingenuity and grit. We cannot wait to round out the stellar lineup at Paseo 17 and bring even more curated experiences to the community.”
Previously announced and also opening soon at Paseo 17 will be Top Chef alum Jackson Kalb’s Ospi, slated to open in the fall. This will be the third location for the classic-meets-modern Italian concept born in Venice Beach and Kalb’s first restaurant in Orange County, eagerly anticipated by local foodies. The addition of Mercado Mesa, Rye Goods and Ospi further elevates Paseo 17’s dynamic mix of contemporary food services and dining options, creating a one-of-a-kind retail and dining experience. These concepts will join a well-established community favorite at Paseo 17, Milligram Coffee + Kitchen.
