Airport restaurateur OTG Management this week opened the second ICRAVE-designed MinniBar location at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Concourse G. Chef Andrew Zimmern, a Minneapolis local and James Beard Award-winning celebrity chef, created the concept for MinniBar, offering up globally inspired sandwiches and custom cocktails, all of which can be ordered via OTG’s signature iPads.
ICRAVE’s design was inspired by Minnesota as the land of 10,000 lakes. Fiberglass panels flow upwards, forming a canopy that becomes a central focal point of the bar. Grounded by green, yellow and white custom mosaic glass tiles that wrap the base, this free-standing café becomes a hub for travellers at the heart of the gate hold area. The space is complete with 46 iPads for ordering food and browsing the web, and charging stations at every seat.
“This addition brings us to a total of 14 new locations and nearly 1,000 iPads at MSP in under a year’s time,” said Rick Blatstein, CEO of OTG. “The pace of execution and the customer feedback is remarkable. We are thrilled with the results to date.”
In 2012, OTG unveiled a new F&B program for Delta’s Concourse G at Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport, designed by leading Manhattan based experiential design firm, ICRAVE. To date, the program incorporates over 1,000 Apple iPads in a variety of dining and gate seating areas featuring menus by acclaimed local chefs (upon completion of the program – end of 2013 – there will be nearly 2,500 iPads deployed). MSP offers travelers a media rich environment infused with local Minneapolis experiences that reimagine and reinvent the airport travel experience.
