Scarpetta and Charlie’s: Modern New York Italian Cuisine Comes to Rome
Scarpetta is opening at the Rome Ambasciatori Palace later this week on May 4th, 2023 on the historical Via Veneto. The new Roman location of Scarpetta, along with its rooftop terrace and bar, Charlie’s, is the latest – and boldest – in a series of international openings for the New York City based hospitality group. Their debut in Italy is a maximalist Roman dream, culminating in a full circle moment for LDV founder John Meadow, whose Italian heritage inspired him to create the hospitality group and serves as the foundation of the group’s culinary offerings, with a modern New York twist.
The Rome location serves favorites from Scarpetta’s New York Italian menu, combining bold flavors with the freshest seasonal ingredients. Fresh housemade pasta mingles with prized cuts from LDV’s other signature brand, American Cut, a steakhouse based in Tribeca. Scarpetta and Charlie’s interiors were led by Rome-based designer Anton Cristell, seamlessly fitting into the rich textures and storied history of the city. Modern glamour is balanced by old world mastery for dining spaces that turn an everyday meal into a full-out celebration. Complete with live music and a curated playlist focusing on New York classics, the cocktail lounge Charlie’s is a rooftop oasis offering the city’s best craft cocktails.
