The Omni Grove Park Inn is celebrating its 100th anniversary year in style with a resort-wide transformation that welcomed major enhancements to public spaces, meeting spaces and guest rooms. The $25 million renovation was completed this summer in coordination with the resort’s Centennial Celebration in July. The most exciting addition to the resort this summer was the opening of EDISON, craft ales + kitchen. The inventive bar and restaurant focuses on local craft beer, hand-crafted cocktails and locally sourced Southern comfort food with a modern twist.
Named after frequent visitor Thomas Edison, EDISON, craft ales + kitchen offers expansive indoor and outdoor seating in combination with spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Menus showcase NC craft beers, small batch bourbons, hand-crafted cocktails, and regionally inspired food. The menu is a collaboration between chefs and local partners to create signature dishes such as whole milk ricotta with sweet peas and mint pesto, chicken cracklins, Carolina scotch eggs, as well as chicken and sweet potato and thyme waffles, grilled head on prawns, and veal meatballs with toasted pine nuts, gorgonzola, and porcini mushrooms.
Adjacent to Sunset Terrace, the resort’s iconic chophouse, a new cocktail terrace was added to create additional seating for cocktails, small plates and sensational sunsets over the Blue Ridge Mountains. No reservations are needed at the Sunset Cocktail Terrace but are recommended well in advance for dining on Sunset Terrace. The classic chophouse features hand-cut steaks, seafood and regional favorites. Automatic gratuity has also been removed at the Sunset Terrace, as well as the award-winning artisanal buffet restaurant, Blue Ridge.
Guests will be welcomed with an atmosphere of relaxed refinement with new Registration and Concierge desks, renovated original 36-foot-wide fireplaces and beautiful new columns featuring hand crafted Arts & Crafts wood panels by local artist, Rob Kleber of Earth in Home. The result is a warm and inviting living room perfect for lounging and having conversation over hand crafted signature cocktails. The Great Hall Bar also has a new look, that blends into the historic yet comfortable feel of the Great Hall.
The 167 guest rooms in the Vanderbilt Wing have all been renovated, including the exclusive Club Floor rooms. The rooms have kept the authentic charm and character of the Inn’s Arts and Craft style yet are now updated with a modern and light color palette as well as the amenities required by today’s traveler.
Major enhancements will welcome group and meeting clientele. The resort’s 55,000-square-feet of versatile meeting space has been upgraded with new technology, carpeting, and new furnishings. The Country Club venue has also been updated to meet the needs of the most imaginative meeting and wedding planners. The Country Club’s outdoor space has even been expanded to accommodate anything from a Southern-style barbecue for 50 to a lavish black-tie wedding for 300.
There’s so much to offer in the resort’s redesigned retail spaces. Guests can shop chic and modern fashions in Cloth, featuring Asheville clothiers Recover and Spiritex apparel. They can satisfy their sweet tooth at The Pink Pig and enjoy the convenience of “grab & go” at the Marketplace for a Starbucks coffee, local goodies from French Broad Chocolates and Crooked Condiments, as well as house made sandwiches, pastries and flatbreads. Guests will also find unique treasures by local artists in Seely & Grove.
Located amid the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, The Grove Park Inn has delighted guests with luxurious comforts and indulgent hospitality since 1913. Rates start around $199 per night.
