Ocean Hotels Group, a leading group of boutique properties in Barbados, is excited to announce the expansion of its culinary leadership team with the appointment of two executives: Jean-Louis Brocardi, Group Food & Beverage Director at Ocean Hotels Group Barbados; and Mitchell Husbands, Executive Chef at O2 Beach Club & Spa. The veteran culinary leaders will oversee their respective operations at the three properties within the collection: O2 Beach Club & Spa, Sea Breeze Beach House, and The Rockley.
Jean-Louis Brocardi | Group Food & Beverage Director | Ocean Hotels Group Barbados
Chef Jean-Louis Brocardi, originally from Marseille, France, grew up in his family’s restaurants and hotels across Marseille, Chamonix, Antibes, and Florida. Chef Brocardi trained under renowned French chef and restaurateur Roger Vergé at the 3 Michelin-starred Moulin de Mougins. He then expanded his culinary journey internationally, holding roles such as executive chef in New York at L’Absynthe and culinary director of Joël Robuchon’s restaurants in Cyprus.
Most recently, Chef Brocardi served as the Director of Food and Beverage at Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord’s Castle, overseeing the food and beverage concepts, wine and liquor program, menu design, branding and marketing plans, and more. In his new role, Chef Brocardi’s creativity and passion for the culinary industry will be evident as the collection’s dining establishments put it on the map as a leading culinary destination in Barbados.
Mitchell Husbands | Executive Chef | O2 Beach Club & Spa
Chef Mitchell Husbands, an accomplished Barbados national, has numerous accolades, including Barbados’ Chef of the Year (2007), ACF Americas Chef Competition winner (2008), and Caribbean Chef of the Year (2011). Most recently, he spent eight years as Executive Chef at Nonsuch Bay Resort in Antigua, where he showcased modern cuisine with fresh local ingredients. He’s also led several kitchens from notable restaurants including those at St. Peters Bay Luxury Residences, Port Ferdinand Marina, The Sea Shed Restaurant, and Marriott’s Turtle Beach Resort, part of the Elegant Hotels Group.
As the new Executive Chef at O2 Beach Club & Spa, Chef Husbands plans to foster a strong, family-like team and elevate O2 as top spot in the Caribbean, with ORO becoming the best restaurant in Barbados. Chef Husbands will be a strong asset as O2 Beach Club & Spa continues to introduce new culinary experiences.
