Reimagining an Icon

An official Historic Hotels of America® and recent recipient of the 2020 Historic Hotels Awards of Excellence, the hotel’s renovation evokes a sense of classic sophistication and encompasses beautifully appointed, modern, noise-canceling guest rooms and suites, a new expansive state-of-the-art fitness center, newly restored public spaces nodding to the hotel’s iconic past, all located within an Art Deco-inspired sanctuary tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. In 2022, guests can look forward to a new world-class food and beverage program set to transform the neighborhood’s dining scene with concepts from Brooklyn-born and bred Chef Franklin Becker of F. Becker Hospitality.

The hotel’s facelift debuts with Art Deco design seamlessly integrating the hotel’s public areas into the newly renovated guest rooms, and the lobby welcomes guests with new grandiose velvet blue and gold furnishings and an expansive art collection. The spacious guest rooms, all of which received a complete top to bottom renovation, feature new contemporary furnishings, Manhattan-inspired artwork, soft goods with subtle design elements paying homage to the 1920s, and entirely new bathrooms. Accommodating the needs of today’s travelers, the renovation also offers a completely new state-of-the-art gym and technology upgrades including expanded Wi-Fi bandwidth to support the rise of the work from anywhere lifestyle.

Offering a dynamic location for all types of travelers from families and couples to business travelers and groups, the hotel is perfectly situated near Penn Station, Grand Central, Madison Square Garden and Broadway. Perfect for holiday shopping, the grand property also offers convenient access to Macy’s for optimal viewing of the dazzling window display in Herald Square, Fifth Avenue for world-class shopping, and must-see immersive attractions in Times Square. “For over a century, Martinique New York on Broadway has elegantly reflected the rich history of its vibrant and dynamic surroundings. Just as it was during the Gilded Age, the hotel remains a symbol of grand hospitality and we’re excited to debut its new, reimagined look to our guests who have come to know and love our hotel,” said Dan Briks, general manager, Martinique New York on Broadway, Curio Collection by Hilton. “We look forward to welcoming families, friends, and locals through our doors as they reconnect with loved ones this holiday season.”

A Look Back in Time

Designed by Henry J. Hardenbergh, one of the most legendary architects of the 19th century, who was also behind the renowned Dakota Apartments, the Waldorf Hotel, and the Astoria Hotel, Martinique New York on Broadway’s exterior exudes French Renaissance charm coupled with Midtown sophistication. The remarkable property has remained one of the neighborhood’s architectural focal points for generations and continues to be beloved for its striking façade of rusticated stonework balconies and prominent cartouches. Upon entering the hotel, guests will step into the restored lobby, surrounded by the 18-story Instagrammable Grand Spiral Marble Staircase which has remained since 1907, and a 15th-century clock built by the same clockmaker for King James I. Guests can also discover the hotel’s nautical-inspired mosaic lobby tile, including newly revealed portions that have been covered since the mid-19th century.

The distinguished property is also located close to the Empire State Building and served as the venue for the building’s opening celebration back in 1930. Significant to the legendary history is the hotel’s deep-rooted connection to monumental moments in time, and throughout its history, Martinique New York on Broadway has played host to some of the world’s most prominent luminaries. In 1916, department store magnate Rodman Wanamaker sponsored a luncheon at Martinique New York on Broadway bringing together 100 prominent golf professionals and leaders of the game, becoming the formal birthplace of The Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA).

Food and Beverage

Debuting in 2022, Martinique New York on Broadway will also unveil several new, inventive food and beverage venues from the celebrated hospitality team of “Top Chef Master” alumni Franklin Becker and restaurateurs Stephen Loffredo and Tora Matsuoka. The Broadway location will include an exciting, new American grill concept while the 33rd Street side of the hotel will debut an elevated cocktail lounge harkening back to the era of great New York hotel bars featuring a small plates menu.

For guests on the move and locals alike, the culinary team will open two new retail options including a bespoke coffee kiosk experience featuring house-made pastries, baked goods, and deftly crafted to-go light fare. Also, on 32nd Street, the team will premiere a new, innovative donut concept. Once open, all of these new venues will welcome guests to an elevated gastronomic experience in the heart of Midtown South.

“We are pleased to open our restaurants within this classic and timeless building. My partners, Stephen Loffredo, Tora Matsuoka, and I are NYC hospitality stalwarts and welcome the opportunity to showcase our vision at this landmark Curio Collection by Hilton property in the heart of the city,” said Chef Franklin Becker, F. Becker Hospitality.

Currently, guests can enjoy a preview of the team’s culinary vision within the hotel at The Early Edition, an intimate setting featuring breakfast and an all-day, market-driven menu that will change frequently as chef Franklin’s culinary team develops inspired selections.
