Like most clichés, there’s truth to the assertion that a major element of a memorable cruise vacation is the dining experience.
With the proliferation of shipboard dining venues — from sushi bars to steakhouses — the challenges of creating and delivering memorable meals at sea have increased dramatically. From specialized prep and cooking equipment to food storage and handling techniques, serving high-quality cruise cuisine at sea is a far different practice than running a shoreside restaurant.
For the first time, Cruise Shipping Miami — the cruise industry’s premier annual conference and exhibition — will have a dedicated F&B Pavilion at the 30th anniversary show, March 10-13, 2014.
The F&B Pavilion is an exciting new dimension to the trade show that provides food and beverage buyers and suppliers a focused venue to showcase products, discover new trends and best of all, sample the merchandise.
Current exhibitors in the new F&B Pavilion represent a wide variety of products and services:
- Azuma Foods International USA assimilates world food cultures by mixing traditional Japanese cuisine with other food traditions.
- Carmi Flavors is an industry leader in supplying custom flavors and fragrances to the food and beverage industry.
- Friend of the Sea works with cruise lines that selectively purchase FOS-certified sustainable seafood for their culinary operations.
- Greenpack of PR is a purveyor of farm-fresh fruits and vegetables packaged for use in commercial kitchens.
- Halperns’ Two Rivers Certified Tender is a high-quality “all natural” boxed beef brand that increases food safety.
- Honey Bun is a Jamaica-based baker of sweet rolls, donuts and cakes.
- Michael David Winery is a family-owned winery producing top-quality wine from the Lodi region of California’s Central Valley.
- Nassau Candy is a U.S.-based manufacturer, importer and distributor of specialty confections, gourmet foods & perishables.
- Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice makes all-natural, fresh-squeezed citrus and fruit juices.
- Nice Fruit is featuring its state-of-the-art technology that prepares and freezes fruits and vegetables while preserving all of their organoleptic properties of appearance, smell, flavor and vitamins.
- Nutrifaster’s commercial juice extractors are ideal for juice bars, health clubs, spas, restaurants and home use.
The beverage sector will be highlighted at a wine-tasting event for targeted attendees (beverage buyers, bar managers, sommeliers, procurement executives) scheduled during the trade show. Participating exhibitors include Barnardt Boyes Winery, Napier Winery, Riebeek Cellars and Val du Charron from South Africa; Uniwines Marketing from the U.K.; and Michael David Winery from the U.S.
