The Moët & Chandon Suite was the hot spot to be at this year’s US Open. Over the two week long tournament celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Debra Messing, Jessica Alba, Kevin Spacey, Alan Cumming, Sandra Bernhard, Spike Lee, Alexander Skarsgard,Joe Jonas, model-of-the-moment Kate Upton, among many more and top chefs including Todd English, Marcus Samuelsson, and Roblé Ali enjoyed the exciting matches while sipping Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut Champagne out of Moët’ssignature ‘golden goblets.’
Before all the action in the Moët Suite, Opening Night of the US Open began with the star-studded USTA Serves Opening Night Gala in the President’s Suite, where actor Kevin Spacey – who led an exciting charitable auction during the Gala – as well astennis legend Billie Jean King and US tennis players Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan signed a bottle of Moët & Chandon – crystalized with the US Open logo – for the USTA Serves. While the focus was on the matches beginning to kick off on the court, all attention turned to champagne during the auction as Ludovic du Plessis, Vice President Moët & Chandon USA, jumped up during Kevin Spacey’s presentation saying, “I have an idea!” before proceeding to present one of the most celebratory auction items of the evening: one year of Moët & Chandon Imperial – 365 bottles, one for each day – which auctioned for $15,000, with all funds going to USTA Serves! After hearing Ludovic’s French accent, Kevin Spacey jokingly proclaimed, “Oh no, the Frenchman!” before joining Ludovic in auctioning off the champagne – and, just as Kevin had a bit of fun this year with Ludovic’s accent, last year’s presenting speaker – actor Alec Baldwin – similarly joked with Ludovic, deciding to continue last year’s auction in a French accent after hearing Ludovic’s welcome speech.
Luckily celebrities and top chefs weren’t the only tennis fans that were able to enjoy the glamour and exquisite taste of Moët – tournament spectators also had the chance to sip in style at the Moët & Chandon Terrace, where Champagne and tennis enthusiasts alike enjoyed the seductive palate of Moët & Chandon Imperial, served in commemorative US Open flutes for $24. Keeping with the beloved tradition the House started in 2011, Moët & Chandon presented both men’s and women’s champions with breathtaking 6-litre large format bottles of Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial adorned with the logo of the 2013 US Open and their names in radiant crystal at the end of their matches.
Days before the US Open’s start Moët & Chandon celebrated its 270th Anniversary in New York City with a party co-hosted by Moët & Chandon President & CEO Stéphane Baschiera and international tennis champion and Moët & Chandon Global Brand Ambassador Roger Federer. The party was a roaring success with celebrities including legendary VOGUE Editor-in-Chief and Roger’s longtime friend, Anna Wintour, 30 Rockactress Katrina Bowden, actors Jeffrey Wright, Josh Lucas and Anthony Mackie, supermodel Carol Alt, former Real Housewife, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Gossip Girl Kelly Rutherford, music artist Fabolous, designer Christian Siriano, Kardashian pal Jonathan Cheban, and others dancing the night away to the sounds of DJ Bob Sinclair and pop sensation Emeli Sandé, while raising a glass of Moët Impérial Brut Champagne to Moët’s 270 years. While walking the red carpet before the event Roger Federer spoke about his role as Global Brand Ambassador to the world’s most-loved Champagne and his delight to be helping the House ring in 270 years telling reporters, “It is a big deal for [me] and Moët & Chandon….I’m the Global Brand Ambassador for them, so it’s an exciting night here tonight to celebrate 270 years.” Upon making his grand entrance into the event Federer asked guests to raise a glass to Moët & Chandon’s 270thAnniversary – as well as his brand new campaign as Moët & Chandon Global Brand Ambassador shot by legendary photographer, Patrick Demarchelier – by saying, “If we all drink a glass of Moët every day, we might all get to 270 years!”
