Michelin-Starred Chefs Mario Batali, Daniel Boulud, Carlo Mirarchi, Günter Seeger, and Michael White Raise Money for NYC Homeless Nonprofit Breaking Ground
Inaugural Serving Up Home event to feature special dishes from each chef and catering from Il Posto Tuo (Del Posto’s new off-premise division) to raise critical funds for housing and services for homeless New Yorkers
Breaking Ground today announced Serving Up Home, a one-night-only benefit event featuring Michelin-starred chefs Mario Batali, Daniel Boulud, Carlo Mirarchi, Günter Seeger, and Michael White to support critical services for New York City’s homeless. On Monday, June 5th at 7:30 p.m., the chefs will prepare signature dishes to be served at a special fundraiser in the Prince George Ballroom for Breaking Ground, New York City’s largest provider of street outreach services and supportive housing for homeless New Yorkers. Benefit attendees will enjoy the chefs’ tasting dishes, passed assaggi by Il Posto Tuo as well as an open bar and gourmet desserts. Tickets are now on sale at http://www.breakingground.org/servinguphome/. All proceeds will go directly to benefiting the nonprofit’s street outreach and transitional housing services.

“I opened my first restaurant in New York City more than 20 years ago, and I am always thrilled to be able to give back to the community I belong to and love in a meaningful way. I’m proud to partner with Michelin and my colleagues to support Breaking Ground, a non-profit that has been helping our most vulnerable neighbors since 1990,” said Chef Daniel Boulud.
“I feed people for a living so I am proud to support a New York City non-profit that is doing so much for those who have so little, especially in my home community of Brooklyn. I look forward to serving up a delicious dish to raise money for a very worthy cause,” said Chef Carlo Mirarchi.
“Living in New York City, my family and I encounter the homeless almost every day. It doesn’t have to be this way. I’m excited to partner with Michelin in support of Breaking Ground, one of the city’s top non-profits who are on the ground every day working to solve this incredibly urgent problem,” said Chef Günter Seeger.

Since 1990, Breaking Ground has helped more than 13,000 people escape and avoid homelessness. Breaking Ground’s dedicated staff are on the streets of New York every day of the year, 24/7, connecting with the homeless and working to bring them inside and connect them with services to restore their lives. As the city’s largest supportive housing provider, Breaking Ground operates 19 transitional and permanent housing residences, primarily in New York City, providing safe, stable, beautiful housing for those who need it most.
The Prince George Ballroom is located at 15 East 27th Street in Manhattan, inside Breaking Ground’s Prince George residence. The Prince George has a rich history as one of New York City’s grand hotels in the early 1900s. Breaking Ground bought the building in the 1990s after it had fallen into disrepair, and transformed it into more than 400 units of affordable and supportive housing for homeless and low-income individuals. Breaking Ground worked with architects and designers to restore the hotel’s spectacular neo-renaissance ballroom, and recently completed a major renovation of the space with world-class designer Jamie Drake and his Drake Design Associates.
