The Mina Group has announced that its latest project, Bourbon Steak Nashville, opens to the public on Monday, September 10. Led by celebrity chef and entrepreneur, Michael Mina, the steakhouse, located on the 34th floor of the newly opened JW Marriott Nashville, is helmed locally by executive chef Michael Lishchynsky and general manager Jayson Storicks. Chef Mina and his team are excited to offer only the finest cuts of organic and hormone-free beef, pork and lamb, a wide selection of shellfish and wood-grilled fish, unique wines and hand-crafted cocktails to Music City.
“We look forward to another exciting chapter for Bourbon Steak and are eager to offer Nashville diners high-quality, organic beef and sustainable seafood while incorporating local flavors and products sourced from Tennessee,” says Mina. “We’ve been inspired by the city’s atmosphere, community and culinary scene, and can’t wait to open the doors to our new Music City location.”
A Cut Above the Rest
Bourbon Steak’s menu offers dishes that are made with the highest quality fresh, seasonal ingredients and prepared at an expert level in the restaurant’s wood-burning stove, traditional butter-poaching techniques and even tableside. Visitors can enjoy tableside classics like Michael’s Ahi Tuna Tartare and Maine Lobster Pot Pie as well as some of chef Mina’s signature preparations such as and Back Truffle Mac & Cheese. Additional menu highlights include a tableside Hickory Smoked 30-Day Dry-Aged Porterhouse and World-Wide Wagyu Trio of Japanese A5 Striploin, Australian Filet and American Rib Cap using organic beef, Smoking Hot Miso Buttered Shellfish Platters, a Hudson Valley Foie Gras “Donut” as well as a selection of light and refreshing sustainable seafood offerings such as sashimi, tartare and crudo. Chef Lishchynsky works with local and regional purveyors whenever possible to create a seasonal menu offering diners the best of Middle Tennessee.
Views from the Top
Bourbon Sky is the intimate 40-seat bar lounge within Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak that offers a destination dining experience. A circular bar serves guests both inside the lounge and on the terrace overlooking downtown Nashville from the 34th story, offering some of the most coveted views in Music City. The full dinner and beverage menu is available to those who wish to dine at Bourbon Sky, as well as additional specialty cocktails from the bar.
Bourbon Steak’s cocktail program is driven by both tradition and modern-day innovation. Guests can enjoy classics like Manhattans, Negronis and martinis in their truest and finest form, or explore a modern interpretation with a Bourbon Steak signature twist. Working closely with spirit producers across the world and locally, the beverage team sources vintage bottles and exclusive barrels for a rare and diverse spirit selection and will include as many Tennessee whiskies as possible. In true Bourbon Steak form, tableside bourbon flights are offered from a custom-made cocktail cart throughout the dining room, and a specialty menu of five to six rotating seasonal cocktails is exclusive to the Bourbon Sky lounge.
The restaurant offers an extensive, yet highly curated, wine list of more than 350 labels from both the Old and the New World. Focused on bottles that offer verve, personality and value, the wine menu includes both classic labels as well as emerging wines from lesser known regions.
Music City by Design
Located on the top floor of the 34-story JW Marriott Nashville, Bourbon Steak takes a contemporary approach to the design of a classic steakhouse. The restaurant enlisted the help of internationally known Tihany Design to create an elegant, inviting and playful atmosphere reminiscent of 50s-era clubhouses and inspired by its Music City home. Drawing inspiration from the building’s sleek ellipse shape, Bourbon Steak’s interior unfolds in curving lines and circular motifs. Rounded architectural wood panels and contemporary brushed metal sconces finish the space, creating a warm, timeless atmosphere and the bourbon-inspired color palette is accented with striking shades of blue and brass details.
In the 280-seat dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, plush banquettes and comfortable chairs are arranged to create an intimate dining experience. Large-scale circular chandeliers hang overhead and a thoughtfully curated art collection roots the space firmly in Nashville. A sleek and masculine bar lounge extends to an expansive terrace with sweeping views of downtown Nashville. The circular bar exists in both indoor and outdoor spaces and is made of curved wood and satin bronze shelving built to showcase the bar’s impressive bottle display.
