British drinks brand, Mermaid Gin is delighted to announce the US launch of three gin expressions within the brand’s portfolio. Mermaid Gin, Mermaid Pink Gin and Mermaid Zest Gin are now available to US customers through Total Wine & More in store and online, along with Park Street and Union Beer, part of the Sheehan Group, which supplies customers in New York and Long Island.
Mermaid Gin Makes Waves with US Market Debut
In addition, Mermaid Gin has secured listing for three expressions with luxury cruise operators Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises, which operate out of Miami.
Mermaid is produced in the UK at the Isle of Wight Distillery, the first and only distillery on the Isle of Wight, a small Island to the south of mainland England.
Mermaid is shaped by the distillery’s stunning surroundings, while the team minimise waste and use ethically and often locally sourced ingredients to hand-craft a range of smooth yet complex spirits, with a hint of sea air. Mermaid Gin also recently achieved B Corp status, earning an overall score of 88.6, ranking it the highest scoring gin distillery in England to date and the first business on the Isle of Wight to achieve this certification.

The striking design of the Mermaid bottle is based on the scales on a mermaid’s tail. The plastic-free bottles have been crafted from recyclable glass and feature a sustainably sourced natural cork stopper and tamper-proof seal made from corn and potato starch, which composts in food waste recycling within 6-12 weeks. The labels on the neck of the bottles are made from recyclable, biodegradable paper whilst the bottle is also re-usable and recyclable. The Mermaid Gin bottles are fully immersed in the sustainable roots of the brand, with each detail flowing back to the earth and sea.
In addition to Mermaid Gin’s eco-friendly bottles, the Isle of Wight Distillery has engaged in local and global initiatives that reinforce its commitment to sustainability, including seagrass restoration. Mermaid Gin is working with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust to monitor and restore seagrass meadows in the waters surrounding their island home. It is estimated that 92% of these seagrass meadows have been lost over the last 100 years. As well as financially supporting the project, the team take part in surveys and beach clean-ups, working as ‘Marine Champions’ for the Trust. Mermaid also works with Surfers against Sewage (SAS), a national marine conservation and campaigning charity tackling plastic pollution and protecting the UK’s coastline for people to enjoy safely and sustainably.

Mermaid Gin is a small batch, beach to bottle London Dry Gin. Hand-crafted using ten ethically sourced botanicals, Mermaid Gin delivers a smooth yet complex blend of fresh organic lemon zest and peppery grains of paradise, with a hint of sea air from fragrant rock samphire foraged from the Isle of Wight shoreline. The rock samphire is foraged mindfully at its peak, with an eye to preserving the native plant for the next season. Other botanicals include handpicked elderflower from local fields and Boadicea hops harvested from Ventnor Botanic Gardens along with English coriander, Angelica root, liquorice root, juniper and orris root. Finish: Long, layered and complex with a well-rounded mouth feel
Mermaid Zest Gin is enhanced with grapefruit and cascade hops then gently infused with Island bergamot, lemon zest and wild-foraged coastal rosemary, to produce a light yet complex zesty tone with a subtle sweetness and herbal notes. Mermaid Zest Gin features the ‘dew of the sea’, rosemary foraged from the Island’s shores. It is also made with fruits grown in the Victorian walled garden of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s Osborne House. Pair with grapefruit soda and fresh rosemary.
