Coffee and Plants, Los Angeles’ first fully plant-based coffee shop is poised to open its second location in Studio City on March 12th. Known as a new kind of neighborhood coffee shop, Coffee and Plants opens with a grand mission in mind – to help the planet one cup at a time. The shop will serve as a place where the community can enjoy the power of plants and the love of coffee in a nurturing and inspiring space.
Coffee and Plants: Studio City Expansion
Coffee and Plants is founded by singer, songwriter, and activist Leona Lewis, and fellow co-founders
Dennis Jauch and Achraf Sekhiri. Lewis, Jauch, and Sekhiri opened the first location of Coffee and Plants in 2019 in Old Pasadena’s Old Town, aiming to disrupt the coffee industry by offering top-quality
plant-based products fueled by a commitment to sustainability and compassion for animals. Following
through on that commitment, Coffee and Plants partners with organizations with like-minded goals, such as the National Forest Foundation, who has committed to planting a tree for every 100 cups sold, and Hopefield Animal Sanctuary.
“We are excited to bring our disruptive plant-based concept, Coffee and Plants to the Studio City
neighborhood,” said Co-Founder Leona Lewis. “We are aiming to help the world, one cup at a time, to
move away from dairy consumption by introducing plant-based products to the masses all while giving
back to the planet and our animal friends.”
The Studio City location will serve a 100% plant-based menu of unique espresso-based specialty drinks,
single origin drip and pour over coffees, cold brews, special teas and seasonal menu items. Coffee and
Plants sources its beans from Unity Coffee, who works with growers in Columbia and Guatemala to
provide fair trade wages to the coffee farmers that produce the beans used in Coffee and Plants
signature blend. Everytime an item from the menu is enjoyed at Coffee and Plants it helps reduce our
carbon footprint as a whole. This is accomplished by eliminating the damaging environmental impacts of
the dairy industry by using only 100% plant-based products. Guests can expect signature Coffee and
Plants drinks such as the Rose Bowl Latte, 24k Charcoal Latte, and the Blue Lavender Latte, as well as
new additions to the menu like the “Laurel Latte” created in honor of the Studio City neighborhood. The
deliciously sweet and floral syrups, and the coconut whipped cream used at the shop are all made
in-house with all-natural, plant-based ingredients. The 100% plant-based food menu will include plenty
of gluten-free items, savory and sweet pastries, freshly prepared Avocado Tartines, JUST Egg Croissants,
and more. Guests are also encouraged to bring their four-legged friends to Coffee and Plants, where
proceeds of select items are donated to Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, an organization which rescues
abused and neglected animals in need.
The shop will feature an ever-changing and fun inventory of plants that will include different varieties of
Hoyas, Monsteras, Pothos, Snake Plants, ZZ, Polka Dot, and many more that will be added to the shop
seasonally. In addition to larger plants, a vast selection of beautiful cacti potted in Coffee and Plants
signature pink pots will be available for purchase. Plants displayed at Coffee and Plants are sourced by its horticulturist that buys from local, family-owned nurseries throughout the city. Guests can also pick-up Coffee and Plants merchandise, including travel mugs, pins, clothing, stickers, and Coffee and Plants
signature blend to enjoy at home.
Partnering with Amsterdam and New York-based creative interior architectural agency, Rigos Mills,
Coffee and Plants comes to life in Studio City with gorgeous tones of dusty rose, brass features, pink
tiling, and vegan-leather seating. The modern, yet homey shop is accented with dreamy European-style
windows that give the 1000 square feet space an open-air feel. Coffee and Plants will have 35 seats
available for guests to enjoy wholesome robust espressos and effervescent floral lattes inside or outside
during one of LA’s many sunny days. The space will feature photoworthy displays throughout the shop
such as Coffee and Plants’ signature one-of-a-kind floral installations by New York based floral art studio, Floratorium, a breathtaking statement chandelier as well as custom art pieces created by Dutch Studio LDE, and custom shelving that lines the entire shop to display over 150 lush plants. Every inch of the store was carefully designed with close attention to detail including the restroom, which will feature AI artwork, and a custom hombre venetian plaster mural by LA artist Brian Robles.

“We were inspired by the creativity and openness of the Studio City community and knew right away that it would be a wonderful home for our second location,” said Leona Lewis . “It is important to Ac, Dennis and me that we open in communities that are diverse and inclusive to all, including our four-legged friends! We look forward to offering a healthy alternative to our guests and our planet for years to
come.”
