During the fall 2020 semester, Lee Kum Kee, the leading Asian sauce provider, awarded scholarship funds to students attending The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), making a direct impact on future culinary professionals. Four CIA students received The Lee Kum Kee Ambassador Scholarship to be used during the upcoming Spring semester.
Commitment to Supporting CIA Students and Future Partnerships
To be considered for the scholarship, CIA students were asked to submit an original recipe using Lee Kum Kee products, along with a personal essay highlighting their career goals and what inspired them to pursue a culinary career.
“We were inspired by all the students who showcased their culinary prowess and shared their personal stories and career goals as part of this scholarship opportunity,” said Dodie Hung, Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Lee Kum Kee. “We are deeply honored to steward the next generation of culinary leaders who will bring creativity and inspiration to the industry.”
Recipients include Cathelyn Van der Land from Hoboken, NJ; Faith Frase from Chestertown, MD; Javon Johnson from Euclid, OH; and Caitlin Scott from Santa Rosa, CA.
“With the industry facing one of its toughest years, we are energized by this next generation of culinary professionals. Their ingenuity, fortitude and leadership will continue to push the industry forward,” said Hung. “We are thankful for the ability to give back and provide tangible support to students, and look forward to opportunities to partner with the CIA in the future.”
