Las Vegas Sands to Build 200,000 Hygiene Kits with Clean the World
On Sept. 26, 4,000+ volunteers and team members in Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, Singapore and Macao will work around the clock and across the globe for the purpose of getting much-needed hygiene supplies to people in need
LAS VEGAS – Sept. 9, 2015 – Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) and international nonprofit Clean the World invite the Las Vegas community to join The Venetian and The Palazzo Team Members on Sept. 26, 2015 in an unprecedented 24-hour global volunteer effort to build 200,000 hygiene kits that will improve the health and well being of vulnerable populations worldwide.
The “Las Vegas Sands Global Hygiene Build with Clean the World” will be both organizations’ largest – and most ambitious -volunteer effort to date. The build will be held at LVS’ Macao, Singapore, Bethlehem and Las Vegas properties sequentially and all within a 24-hour period. The effort is part of LVS’s global corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares, and its ongoing partnership with Clean the World.
“For the first time ever, Las Vegas Sands properties are joining in a single and united Sands Cares event to help communities across the globe,” said Ron Reese, senior vice president of corporate communications at LVS. “This global kit build with Clean the World will help thousands of impoverished and homeless people who can’t afford or lack access to simple basics like soap or shampoo – including those in need in our local communities. These kits help prevent disease and promote good health and dignity.”
Interested community volunteers can sign up at http://vegasctw2015. eventbrite.com/for two-hour shifts to assemble kits. Volunteers can sign up for shifts during the following times:
12-2 p.m.
2-4 p.m.
4-6 p.m.
Approximately 4,000 LVS Team Members and volunteers in Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, Singapore and Macao will help build 200,000 kits during the global build, which is underwritten by LVS and also receiving support from Sysco.
Each hygiene kit includes soap that was collected from Clean the World’s hospitality partners, including LVS properties around the world, and then recycled through Clean the World’s soap sanitation and processing equipment. Other amenities in the kit include shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush and toothpaste.
LVS and Clean the World have a strong partnership built upon a collective commitment to help those in need and protect the planet. Since 2011, LVS and Clean the World have recycled more than 50 tons of waste from LVS properties into more than 550,000 bars of soap.
“Clean the World’s partnership with Las Vegas Sands has enabled us to drive the global hygiene revolution, and this global build will further accelerate our mission to reach thousands of people in the U.S. and Asia with hygiene supplies,” said Shawn Seipler, founder and executive director of Clean the World.
LVS’ partnership with Clean the World is part of the company’s global corporate citizenship program, Sands Cares. Announced in April 2014, Sands Cares manifests the company’s core corporate social responsibility focus: supporting people in the company and the hospitality industry, making local communities where LVS operates a better place to live and reducing environmental impact on the planet.
