Coffee is a global staple, with more than two billion cups of coffee consumed each day. Yet, most daily coffee drinkers remain unaware of their brew’s journey and its–too often–negative human and environmental health impacts.
In its natural state, coffee thrives under tall, dense rainforest canopies, fostering rich soil systems and a biodiverse ecosystem. In contrast, today’s conventional coffee tells a different story–often a dirty one. Relying on chemical inputs and exposed fields, modern coffee production can lead to soil degradation, water pollution, and biodiversity loss. This approach not only risks harming environmental health but poses concerns for the well-being of farmers exposed to chemicals and consumers who drink the end product.
Today’s coffee industry has a long way to go in promoting production practices that foster thriving ecosystems, support farmer prosperity, and deliver a clean product. To lead this transformation, Kiss the Ground, a pioneering nonprofit in the Regenerative Movement, has launched a single-sourced, certified regenerative coffee subscription.
For over a decade, Kiss the Ground has promoted healthy soil and regeneration as a viable solution for the wellness, water, and climate crisis. By walking alongside farmers in their journeys toward regeneration, Kiss the Ground has helped champion the transition of millions of acreage into regenerative practices while creating awareness about the power of regeneration through storytelling, education, and partnerships.
Now, the leading organization has partnered with Buena Vida Specialty Coffee, a Costa Rican company prioritizing farmer prosperity and soil health, to redefine coffee production with a commitment to the well-being of coffee farmers, consumers, and the planet.
Sourced from La Bella Farm, a small certified regenerative farm in the Los Santos Coffee Region of Costa Rica, each bag of Kiss the Ground Coffee promises high quality and exceptional flavor that begins in the soil.
Nature-based farming techniques such as intercropping, cover cropping, and agroforestry are implemented at La Bella to cut-out the use of chemicals and restore soil health, resulting in a product that is good for consumers and the planet. To ensure every step of the coffee’s journey is regenerative and traceable, Buena Vida Specialty Coffee collaborates with the United Nations FAO to equip the farm with the skills to measure soil fertility and their carbon footprint.
Kiss the Ground Coffee is now exclusively available through a $28 monthly subscription. With each subscription, $10 will go directly to Kiss the Ground to amplify the organization’s impact, which includes inspiring and catalyzing the transition of acres of land into regenerative agriculture, working directly with farmers, consultants, and various partners.
The remaining proceeds go towards supporting responsible coffee production and supporting farmers eager to make the transition to regenerative. To challenge the industry norm, the farmers at La Bella Farms are provided prosperity prices – above market price and often double or more.
By sharing Kiss the Ground Coffee and its story with the world, the organization seeks to actively educate consumers about the significance of regenerative farming while evolving greater accountability within the coffee industry. Each coffee purchasing choice holds power in advancing the well-being of farmers, consumers, and the planet.
