Experts rate KAPPA as the top Pisco in the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio
The Marnier Lapostolle family is proud to announce that KAPPA Pisco, created by seventh generation family member Charles de Bournet, received the highest score in a premium Chilean Pisco tasting conducted by the newspaper El Mercurio.
To obtain the scores, three top experts did a blind tasting of the most recognized local Chilean brands of Pisco. The results of this blind tasting, which awarded KAPPA Pisco with the highest score, ran in an article on September 1, 2012 in El Mercurio, an extremely prominent and influential Chilean newspaper. One of the experts, sommelier Macarena Lladser, noted in the piece that KAPPA Pisco is delicious and balanced, and is ideal tasted neat or combined in a cocktail.
From the Elqui Valley in Chile, KAPPA Pisco (SRP $34.00) is one of the latest projects of the renowned Marnier Lapostolle family of the award-winning Lapostolle Wines from Chile and the iconic global brand, Grand Marnier. Pulling from House of Marnier-Lapostolle’s centuries of expertise in producing Grand Marnier, KAPPA Pisco marks the family’s first ever introduction into the white spirits category.
Only the most noble and aromatic grape varieties – Pink Muscat (Rosé) and Alexandria Muscat – are used for KAPPA Pisco. The grapes are grown organically and sourced from Elqui Valley Vineyards, an ideal climate for agriculture boasting 300 days of sunshine a year and fresh water from the Andes Mountains. Marnier Lapostolle’s 180 years of expertise in producing luxury spirits is evident throughout every step of KAPPA’s production process. In order to ensure the highest quality production in Chile, they brought a state-of-the-art copper alambic still from Cognac to Chile; adapted the technique of distillation from Cognac to ensure the best quality of alcohol is achieved while preserving the aromas from the Muscat grape; and deployed their master cognac blender and cellar master, Patrick Ragenaud, from France to oversee crush, vinification and distillation.
This honor of the top score in the blind tasting by El Mercurio follows up KAPPA Pisco’s win of Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition earlier this year.
