Home Run Inn Pizza, Chicago’s iconic pizzeria since 1947, pays homage to its late CEO and fearless leader, Joe Perrino, while announcing new changes to the notable company. Perrino built the strong foundation that Home Run Inn is today, and he was dedicated and loyal not only to the company, but to his family and employees that quickly became his second family. As the next generation of Home Run Inn looks to the future, they are pleased to share plans for the company’s next chapter.
The Board of Directors, consisting of five members and long-time Home Run Inn employees including, Gina Bolger, Vice President of Branding; Nick Perrino, Vice President of Sales and Marketing; Mark Carlson, President of Frozen Foods; Kevin Costello, Executive Vice President; and Dan Costello, President of Restaurant Group, will continue to build on the already strong foundation created by Perrino.
The team is proud to appoint President of Restaurant Group, Dan Costello, as the new Home Run Inn CEO. Costello will maintain his current role along with his new position as CEO and looks forward to this new and exciting opportunity.
“Appointing Dan to CEO was an easy decision for us, said Gina Bolger, Vice President of Branding. “Our family, The Board, and Home Run Inn employees have always respected Dan as a leader and we have the utmost confidence that he will maintain the legacy that my father Joe created. Joe was courageous, kind and truly cared about people and these are all qualities that are apparent in Dan. My father would be fully supportive of this decision made by the family and we know Dan will make us proud.”
Spending his summers working with the notable Chicago pizzeria when he was just 13, Costello held many roles within the company. From a part-time job as a busboy to grinding sausage at the factory behind the original location, he knew he wanted to be part of this special family business at a young age. Following college in 1994, Costello joined Home Run Inn full-time as a restaurant manager and with the guidance and leadership of his uncle (Joe Perrino), he eventually worked his way up to Director of Restaurant Operations and then President of Restaurant Group.
Costello is proud and grateful that his family members trust him with this important position. He aspires to build upon the strong company that’s already in place in collaboration with his family.
“Joe always pushed us to be the best versions of ourselves and we know that his spirit is with us and will continue to guide us forward on a path of success that we all will share in,” said Costello. “His legacy, wisdom, guidance, and love will never be forgotten.”
As Costello settles into his new position, he will take the lessons learned from his beloved uncle to continue the success of the iconic Chicago pizzeria.
