On July 11th, Holey Grail donuts will introduce their WAE Waffle donut created in collaboration with NBA all-star player Lonzo Ball, which will run through August 14th.
The WAE Waffle donut features Holey Grail Donut’s signature taro donut fried to order in coconut oil, with crunchy waffle cone bits, sliced almonds and malty espresso chocolate. For this collaboration, 20% of sales will be donated to Lonzo’s charity of choice — ABA Academy, the non-profit with the goal to engage, educate, and empower youth from diverse populations to be successful leaders, champions and athletes in high school, college and beyond.
As background: Holey Grail Donuts is the Hawaiian-born, LA-rooted donut shop that specializes in made-to-order taro donuts with a weekly revolving menu highlighting local Hawaiian and Californian ingredients. Breaking Bread is Holey Grail’s flavor series that brings people together to create masterful donuts and conversations. Lonzo Ball is the professional basketball player on the Chicago Bulls and previously of the Los Angeles Lakers, his hometown, where he was also the league’s MVP. In addition to his skills on the court, Ball has become widely known for his podcast “What An Experience” – a show diving deep into the intersections of sports and culture, in which his donut is named after.
