Coming out of a hugely successful community preview event, Holey Grail Donuts is excited to announce a grand opening celebration of its new Grand Flagship store at Ae’o in Ward Village on National Doughnut Day, Friday, June 3, 2022. The public is invited to celebrate Holey Grail Donut’s most sacred day of the year with free donuts, a host of new flavors, a free photo booth, live music, and the reveal of a new concept, its “Donut Toast.”
Holey Grail Donuts Grand Opening on National Doughnut Day
The festivities commence from 7:00 a.m. with one complimentary “Hojicha Unicorn” donut given away to each customer all day long. The new flavor by Chef Mei Lin of Bravo TV’s Top Chef expresses a vanilla bean hojicha glaze garnished with rainbow sprinkles over the signature taro donut fried in coconut oil.
In addition to the new 9-pack of donuts and ube lattes and matcha on tap, as introduced to the community on May 13, Holey Grail Donuts will be inaugurating two beverages, the hojicha green tea latte with vanilla coconut whipped cream and Wild Guava nitro tea with fresh berries.
Holey Grail Donuts will also be introducing a new concept, the “Donut Toast,” a toasted taro donut garnished with Big Island Creamery macadamia cream cheeses. Sweet and savory versions will be available with dairy and non-dairy options, including flavors such as Kula strawberry cream cheese and Big Island Creamery macadamia nut cream pesto.
Then, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., musician Lou Dawg will perform his style of acoustic guitar music before the scene transitions to hip-hop and funk beats of DJ Bo Seph who will be spinning vinyl from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
A pop-up photo booth will also be available at the decorated mural fronting the store from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Photos will be printed on the spot for customers to retain as a memorable keepsake.
“Our Honolulu Flagship store at Ward Village represents our investment into the community,” asserts Nile Dreiling, co-founder of Holey Grail Donuts. “Starting our business out of a humble food truck, we are now a permanent part of the neighborhood. We hope that people embrace our shop as a community gathering space where they may explore local flavors, music, and art with their friends and family.”
“Holey Grail represents the success achievable when innovative retail trends are incubated and nurtured,” said Doug Johnstone, President, Hawaiʻi, The Howard Hughes Corporation. “Ward Village is thrilled to have supported their journey from a food truck concept to a flagship brick-and-mortar storefront in the heart of Honolulu.”
Holey Grail Donut’s Honolulu Flagship Store is located at 1001 Queen Street, on the Makai (ocean side) entrance to Whole Foods Market Queen. The store will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. About Holey Grail Donuts
Founded by brother and sister team, Nile and Hana Dreiling, in early 2018, Holey Grail began as a “Sunday Ritual” out of a little red hamburger trailer in Hanalei on the island of Kauai. This ritual quickly developed a cultish following which led to 45+ minute waits, live DJs, and people lining up at 6:30 a.m. on a Sunday to try the donuts. They started with a $100 fryer, a “Reincarnated” donut, and a quest to create the world’s most delicious donut experience.
