Historic Harmony Valley Creamery Previews Ice Cream and Dairy Truck at California Mid-State Fair
Historic creamery to sample and sell high-end locally-made frozen treats at the California Mid-State Fair July 22-Aug 2
July 21, 2015 (Harmony, CA) – After decades of dormancy, the historic Harmony Valley Creamery will be sampling and selling locally-made ice cream at the California Mid-State Fair, July 22 through August 2, in the Ponderosa Pavilion. Harmony Valley Creamery will also be previewing their newly restored vintage dairy truck, soon to be roaming San Luis Obispo County selling locally-made ice cream.
The base for the ice cream is crafted to an ultra-premium 18% deliciousness (a.k.a. milkfat) in the storied halls of the Cal Poly University dairy department and then handmade with fresh, seasonal ingredients in small batches by a local “ice cream artisan.” Flavors to be sampled and sold by the cup and pint at the Mid-State Fair include Moodagascar Vanilla Bean, Boom Chocolaca (chocolate), Cookie Monsters & Cream, Mint – Mint ‘n’ Chip, and Utter Butter Pecan.
The Harmony Valley Creamery traces its roots back to the formation of the Harmony Valley Creamery Association in the charming coastal hamlet of Harmony in 1913, where it served as a vital part of the dairy industry in San Luis Obispo County. The ongoing restoration of the Town of Harmony will serve as home to Harmony Valley Creamery Dairy Shoppe where guests will be able to purchase a number of different soft and semi-soft cheeses, fresh cheese curds, milk, butter, and ice cream. While continuing to be a haven for artists, musicians, quaint weddings and gatherings, Harmony plans to open other artisan shops as well as a restaurant featuring a contemporary take on rustic design and comfort dining later this year. The menu focus will be inspired by the early Swiss and Italian ranchers and dairymen whom settled the Harmony Valley.
