Happy National Cheeseburger Day from Mellow Mushroom!
In honor of National Cheeseburger Day, Mellow Mushroom, announces that after 40 years as a purveyor of mouthwatering pizza in the Southeast, they are adding beef and veggie cheeseburgers to their already eclectic menu. These were previewed at select locations in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina & Texas this summer, but as of October 1, 2015 they will be available at Mellow Mushroom locations nationwide.
The beef burger (Carnie) is made of 100% choice, all natural, certified Black Angus Beef. The beef is humanely raised and minimally processed, using no additives or ammoniated procedures. It will be available in the Primo Pub preparation, which includes Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, romaine lettuce, tomato, pickles and garlic aioli spread.
The veggie burger (Herb), which can stand up to any beef patty, consists of kale, quinoa, roasted mushrooms, and brown rice among other seasonings and vegetables. These hearty, house-made patties are made with the highest-quality ingredients. The veggie patty will be available in the Goin’ Cali option containing Cheddar cheese, romaine lettuce, tomato, sweet onions and fresh avocado.
About Mellow Mushroom
It all started in 1974 when three freewheeling hippie college students set out to create the most craveable slice of pizza on the planet: handcrafted, preservative-free, stone-baked pizza made with wheat flour, vine-ripened, hand-selected tomatoes and Appalachian spring water-based dough. The budding entrepreneurs behind Atlanta’s flower power-themed Mellow Mushroom were 40 years ahead of current trends in pizza making.
With its signature “Southern style” pizza, regarded as a regional cult (not unlike the unique styles associated with St. Louis, New Haven, CT or Old Forge, PA), most of its 200 locations have remained clustered in the bottom-right states of Georgia, Florida, Texas, the Carolinas and Virginia. And while likeminded regional franchise In-n-Out Burger has famously resisted a move out east, Mellow Mushroom fans have wondered if Southern style would ever fan out to the rest of the country.
And finally, suddenly, good news for Mellow fans: after opening locations in disparate major cities like Washington D.C., Miami, Denver, Houston, Cincinnati, Orlando and Dallas, the franchise is also looking ahead to it’s first locations in states like Massachusetts, Missouri and Greater New York/New Jersey.
The brand’s success is also largely due in part to their slow, yet purposeful expansion, growing customer loyalty by making the local community a major influence on each location. Though turning away from the cookie-cutter expansion business model is a longer and more painstaking process, each of Mellow’s franchise locations are uniquely designed to reflect the local community. Each location offers a customized section of the menu with dishes specific to the area made with locally-sourced ingredients.
