Figue Mediterranean, (47474 Washington Street, La Quinta, Cal.; 760-698-9040) celebrates Restaurant Week, May 30 through June 8 by offering guests a varied and colorful taste of regional Italian cuisine, expertly prepared by Executive Chef François de Mélogue and his formidable culinary team.
“As we begin the summer season, we enjoy offering the Valley an opportunity to figuratively “travel to the Mediterranean region on a food journey,” said owner Lee Morcus. “This year our first focus is on the regional cuisine of Italy-which everyone loves-and we are presenting authentic recipes made from the finest organic, sustainably raised and locally sourced ingredients. It just so happens that Restaurant Week coincides with the beginning of our summer food tour, so it’s a wonderful time for people to stop by and share in the Italian adventure.”
Figue’s Restaurant Week menu offers a choice of antipasti (small plates), secondi (big plates) and dolci (desserts) for $38. For an additional charge, guests also have two choices of Italian wine pairings-three wines; one wine per course-to enhance their enjoyment.
Antipasti selections include Garden Vegetable Panzanella Italian Summer Salad of tomatoes, sweet peppers, celery, focaccia and young carrots; Seafood Bruschetta Calamari, bay shrimp and bay scallops served over grilled Italian bread; Chicken and Ricotta Polpettine, chicken and ricotta meatballs simmered in our San Marzano tomato sauce; and San Daniele Steamed Mussels, PEI mussels steamed with caramelized onions and 24-month cured prosciutto.
Large plates include Gnocchi Tocco di Carne, handmade potato dumplings, pork & porcini mushroom sauce; Guazetto Tuscan Fish and Shellfish Stew, salmon, shrimp and mussels simmered in a tomato-vegetable sauce; Shaved Pork with Summer Fruits, spit roasted organic all-natural pork loin with wild baby arugula and tree ripened peaches, mustard vinaigrette; and Spit Roasted Jidori Chicken, charred sweet corn and fregula, honey balsamic glaze.
Dessert finales include Citrus Panna Cotta with organic cherries; Pistachio Polenta and Olive Oil Fig Cake; and Chocolate and Hazelnut Bombolinis.
To accompany the meal, Figue is offering two Italian wine pairings. The Pianissimo Pairing ($15) includes La Marca Prosecco, Veneto, Italy; 2011 Badia A Coltibuono, Chianti, Italy; and to complete the meal, house made Limoncello. The Fortissimo Pairing ($25) features 2011 Broglia Gavi La Meirana, Piemonte, Italy; 2010 Ciacci Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy; and 2006 Roccolo Grassi Recioto, Valpolicella, Italy.
