FAIRMONT BREAKERS DEBUTS IN THE HEART OF LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, part of world-leading hospitality group Accor, in partnership with Long Beach-based investment and development group Pacific6, today announced the opening of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach. Nestled in the heart of downtown Long Beach, the landmark hotel debuts after a multi-million-dollar transformation, blending historic grandeur with contemporary luxury.

Located just 25 miles south of Los Angeles, Fairmont Breakers offers a vibrant coastal getaway with modern accommodations and world-class amenities that contrast bygone era glamour with the splendor of the Pacific. Originally built in 1926, the property has been transformed into a lavish retreat promising unmatched sophistication throughout its thoughtfully designed public spaces and well-appointed guest rooms and suites. Guests can enjoy the city’s only luxury spa and rooftop bar, and a sun-soaked pool terrace alongside two signature restaurants, including the return of the beloved Sky Room.

“We are proud to welcome guests to Fairmont Breakers Long Beach. It is an honor to play a role in the revival of an iconic landmark within this community, serving as a haven for visitors and locals alike,” said Mark Steenge, General Manager of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach. “This property is a testament to the evolution of Long Beach as a thriving destination and Fairmont’s commitment to set a new standard for luxury, elegance, and high-touch service with each and every experience.”

“With the highly anticipated debut of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, we are not just bringing a piece of history back to life, but together with our partners at Pacific6, we are also ushering in a new era of luxury for Long Beach,” said Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. “At the heart of who we are at Fairmont, we are at the social epicenter of the destination, celebrating life’s most momentous occasions together. Since signing this project, we have heard so many meaningful stories about the significant role this hotel has played in the lives of those who grew up in and around Long Beach, and those who visited the hotel in its prime. It is our distinct honor to now be a part of those special stories, and to carry them forward.”

Historic Elegance Meets Contemporary Sophistication

The Breakers property has stood as a distinctive icon along the Long Beach skyline for decades, serving as a seaside escape frequented by world-famous stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant, Babe Ruth and Clark Gable. Imbued by a rich heritage, the hotel’s vintage charm and modernity intersect, with thoughtful odes to its past woven through contemporary design accents, art and guest experiences.

Guests can unwind in 185 bright and inviting guest rooms including 22 spacious suites designed with an elegant coastal palate, anchored by deep blue tones and popped with touches of gold and mixed metals to emulate sunlight shimmering on the ocean. Complete with marble bathrooms, Le Labo bath amenities and luxe fixtures, rooms are thoughtfully designed with tasteful furnishings – creating a harmonious blend of timeless sophistication and relaxed coastal charm. With grand windows offering ample natural light, select guest rooms overlook the idyllic Long Beach harbor, while others provide unobstructed views of the palm tree-framed downtown skyline. Rooms range from 287 square feet to 790 square feet, including ADA mobility and hearing-accessible room types.

Led by acclaimed design teams HBA and RVD Associates, the hotel’s extensive restoration honors the building’s original magnificence while incorporating modern design touches. The property’s historic features have been meticulously restored to their original 1920’s glory – such as untouched plaster molding, the original mailbox in the lobby and stunning exterior ornamentation – complimented by a collection of vibrant dining venues and contemporary accents. In the grand lobby, sparkling chandeliers, marble flooring, and sleek furnishings complement the original architecture.

The hotel boasts a curated art collection that captures the unique essence of the destination and the property’s roots as an icon along the Southern California coast, featuring work from local artists, photographers and more. The hotel pays homage to its past through a mix of pieces and vintage photos displaying decades of the hotel’s history, including curated gallery walls in Nettuno and Sky Room.

An Epicurean Journey

Set to become the city’s newest culinary haven, Fairmont Breakers Long Beach will deliver an immersive experience fit for every palate across five distinct food and beverage concepts. The hotel has tapped the talent of renowned chefs – Chef Giuseppe A. Musso, Chef Maxwell Pfeiffer and Chef Jared Reeves – who blend traditional coastal flavors with international culinary influences. Guests and locals alike can indulge in craft cocktails at chic bar spaces, while the open-air rooftop lounge will serve refreshing libations backdropped by panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.

Since 1938, Sky Room has been recognized as Long Beach’s premier fine dining restaurant, boasting a rich history of over 86 years. Newly led by local Chef Maxwell Pfeiffer, Sky Room puts a spin on classic fine dining with fresh daily caught seafood, tender cuts of premium meats, and regional produce alongside an extensive wine list. Perched atop Fairmont Breakers with sweeping views of the Pacific coastline, Sky Room will offer dishes such as Whole Roasted John Dory, sourced from New Zealand and paired with yuzu koshu beurre blanc; California Wagyu Beef Wellington, featuring mushroom duxelles, prosciutto, and bordelaise; Dry-Aged Duck “à l’Orange”, served with winter citrus jus; and Butter-Poached Maine Lobster accompanied by Parisienne gnocchi and fennel. Guests can also savor classic Oysters Rockefeller or indulge in tableside flambé desserts. Anchored in local ingredients, this breathtaking venue combines a chic, modern design with thoughtful odes to the restaurant’s decades of history. Sky Room will be open from Tuesday – Saturday between 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Inspired by the Italian coast, Nettuno serves as a relaxed and elevated refuge, serving a seasonal menu inspired by authentic Italian home-cooked meals. Chef De Cuisine Giuseppe A. Musso brings nearly a decade of expertise and culinary artistry to Nettuno, pushing the boundaries of Italian cuisine through a menu that marries his deep-rooted Italian heritage with modern techniques and global influences. Through standout dishes such as Gnudi di Ricotta with black truffle or Spaghetti Nero di Seppia al Frutti di Mare with a striking combination of cuttlefish, mussels, shrimp, and chili, Chef Musso masterfully infuses California cuisine with classic Italian fare to create one-of-a-kind flavors. These dishes are complemented by an extensive wine list, Italian-inspired cocktails, and aperitifs. The bright and airy restaurant will serve as the perfect gathering place for business lunches and weekend brunch with friends. Nettuno will be open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and closed between 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

As the only rooftop bar in Long Beach, Halo is set to become the destination’s foremost social hub for upscale celebrations of all kinds. Boldly designed, colorful lounge and bar spaces will serve up inventive cocktails backdropped by 360-degree views stretching from Downtown Los Angeles to Catalina Island. The picturesque backdrop is further enhanced by a striking mix of lively patterns, bold-toned tiles and vibrant hues throughout. As guests step inside, they are greeted by a grand marble bar with brass accents and reflective surfaces, capturing the glow of the twinkling ocean and city skyline. Custom-designed wallpaper cascades from the ceiling in vibrant hues, showcasing bird-inspired motifs and playful nods to a bygone art deco era. A sanctuary in the sky, the rooftop terrace will transform into a vibrant destination after sundown, where expertly crafted cocktails set the stage for unforgettable evenings. Halo will be open daily, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Alter Egothe property’s upscale jazz bar, pays homage to the hotel’s original roots as an escape for A-listers in the Roaring Twenties, with dimly-lit interiors complete with historic design touches, including the use of original wood paneling while custom wallpaper and gold accents bring a contemporary flair. Plush velvet seating, reminiscent of classic jazz clubs and speakeasies, adds a touch of vintage elegance while the bar serves an array of classic and music-inspired cocktails accompanied by a live jazz band on select evenings. Alter Ego will be open every evening from 5:00 p.m. to midnight.

Steps from the liveliness of downtown – guests can immerse in sun-drenched elegance at La Sala – the perfect spot for professionals, hotel guests, and locals alike. The stylish lobby bar embodies classic California glamour with a refined design inspired by the 1930s garden solarium, incorporating the original facade from the hotel’s first front desk. Incorporating stunning green hues, palm tree-inspired chandeliers, and botanical accents, the tranquil haven creates the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a morning espresso and breakfast pastries, an elevated afternoon tea, or an evening cocktail. La Sala will operate daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
