Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld(R) Executive Chef John Janucik has received the 2014 Marriott International Award of Culinary Excellence in recognition of his innovative culinary ideas and exceptional service to hotel guests
ORLANDO, Fla., July 20, 2015— Bob Walsh, general manager of Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld®, is proud to announce that Executive Chef John Janucik has been named 2014 Chef of the Year for the Americas, an Award of Culinary Excellence from Marriott International.
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Janucik joined Marriott International in 2006 as an executive sous chef at the Orlando World Center Marriott. He transferred to the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld® in 2010 as executive chef.
Janucik was selected for this prestigious award based on his ability to increase guest satisfaction and engagement while also growing food and beverage profits at the hotel.
During his tenure at Renaissance, Janucik has consistently exceeded performance goals and was selected to become a member of the Culinary Council of the Americas for Central and North Florida Marriott properties. He is a devoted supporter of local farms and sustainability, and he advocated for an organics program last year that decreased the amount of kitchen waste and increased recycling efforts from 10 percent to 40 percent diversions.
A culinary innovator, Janucik also implemented hanging gardens throughout the Orlando resort, which are not only visually stimulating but are utilized to support the hotel’s restaurants. The gardens provide guests with the awareness that the SeaWorld® Orlando hotel grows some of its own produce while also working to preserve the environment.
