The verification emphasizes CEO Erin Baker’s strong desire to provide healthy meal options for people on the go. Erin Baker’s granola underwent a series of tests and audits to ensure adherence to the Non-GMO Project’s rigorous practices for GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) avoidance. GMOs are organisms created through the gene-splicing techniques of biotechnology, which allow DNA from one species to be inserted into another species in a laboratory, creating combinations of genes that do not occur in nature.
The Non-GMO Project is North America’s only third-party verification and labeling organization for Non-GMO foods. Its verification process includes the review of a variety of documents with independent, third-party technical administrators, such as ingredient statements, certificates of analysis, Polymerase Chain Reaction test results and standard operating procedures conducted at manufacturing facilities.
