DCI Cheese Company (DCI) today announced a donation of $50,000 to Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) in support of the organization’s efforts to improve nutrition in America’s schools. This donation represents a 25¢ contribution for every piece of Black Diamond purchased from November 1 to December 31, 2011.
AFHK is the nation’s leading nonprofit and largest volunteer network working with schools and families to fight childhood obesity and undernourishment. Since its 2002 founding, AFHK has partnered with schools nationwide to provide programs and services that improve nutrition in schools and increase opportunities for kids to be active.
Black Diamond’s popular cold pack cheese spreads and aged Canadian Cheddars are perennial award winners and contain no additives, modified enzymes or artificial coloring. The line is renowned for its rich, crumbly texture, classic full Cheddar flavor and trademark sharpness that is developed slowly through careful and natural aging.
Black Diamond consumers played an integral role in supporting AFHK; each piece sold during November and December promotion added 25¢ to the total amount donated.
“Cheese is packed with vitamins and nutrients making it a great snacking option for kids,” states Katie Jury, DCI’s Marketing Manager. She adds, “We’re very excited that our holiday sales directly translated into a nice contribution to Action for Healthy Kids.”
DCI’s donation of $50,000 to AFHK was made on February 10th. The donation will directly support AFHK’s mission to fight childhood obesity and undernourishment.
