New convention center hotel scheduled to open 2014, poised to revitalize downtown DC
Dan Nadeau has been named General Manager of Marriott Marquis Washington, DC, opening spring 2014. In this position Mr. Nadeau will oversee all operations of the $520-million hotel, which will be one of only five Marriott Marquis properties in the country. Marriott Marquis Washington, DC will have 1,175 rooms, 49 suites, and over 105,000 square feet of function space, as well as five separate retail and restaurant spaces. The dynamic hotel will become the epicenter of DC’s downtown neighborhood and introduce a new venue for social gatherings, business travelers, and meetings and conventions.
A 30-year Marriott veteran, Mr. Nadeau was most recently general manager at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park, Washington, DC’s largest hotel. He has held numerous sales and marketing positions at several Marriott hotels—including the Bethesda Marriott, New York Marriott Marquis, Newark Airport Marriott, and Marriott’s Castle Harbor in Bermuda—before holding several senior leadership positions in operations for Marriott’s Eastern Region—including general manager of the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront in Baltimore, Md. Mr. Nadeau is an active member of the DC community and currently serves on the boards of the Capital Area Food Bank, the Washington, DC Hotel Association, Destination DC, the Board of Trade and the American Hotel Lodging Association (AHLA).
“We are so pleased to have Dan at the helm for this highly anticipated hotel opening. His experience and knowledge of Washington, DC make him an outstanding choice to lead the opening team and introduce travelers to a dynamic new property for Marriott,” says David Marriott, chief operations officer, Americas Eastern Region, Marriott International.
