LOS ANGELES (July 31, 2015) – It’s the World Cup of grub! This August, Border Grill’s Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken are summoning the street food superpowers of the Latin world to Border Grill Downtown Los Angeles for Tuesday Night Street Food Fights. Over five weeks beginning Tuesday, Aug. 4th, eight countries will spar with their trademark street fare. Mexico, Spain, Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, El Salvador, and Cuba will each have a fighting shot at taking home the title of street food champ. The grub-war kicks off with heavyweight contenders Mexico and Spain, with a battle royale main event on Sept. 1 between the four winners from the knockout rounds.
Each week, two Latin countries will take it outside on Border Grill’s downtown patio to chop, fry, and grill up on-the-go dishes that rep that nation’s culinary flag. A $25 admission nets spectators not only all-you-can-eat access (or $5 a la carte), but a vote to cast on Twitter or Instagram to decide the victor of that night’s showdown. In addition to the food (prepared by Border Grill DTLA Chefs Michelle Lainez and Carlos Jurado; consulted on and inspired by Feniger & Milliken), each event will be spiked with emblematic cocktails.
