Next, he meets the locals at Gizzard Fest in Michigan where they serve a donut to die for and an Onion Dog as big as his head.

In Brooklyn, Sherri meets the co-founders of Gefilteria who are remaking the Jewish holiday staple, gefilte fish. Then in New York’s Lower East Side, Sherri gets a helping of Hinduism alongside her Lamb Pasanda at MasalaWala. Salt cod tostones satisfy a group of hungry believers thanks to Dining with Grace, and in Bayonne, New Jersey, the baking rock stars from Filled Cakes and Confections create an epic bible cake.

Sherri hangs with Alvin and Friends in New Rochelle, New York, for some heavenly shrimp and grits. In Greenwich, Connecticut, Father Matt Mauriello has Sherri over for fellowship and feasting on his manicotti crepes, and the Greek Diner in Cherry Hill, New Jersey makes their Lenten favorite, Imam Baildi. Sherri tries some Yemenite Soup at Kosher restaurant Eighteen in Manhattan.

Sherri visits a former friar who makes a miraculous Pizza Margherita at S. Egidio’s in Ridgewood, New Jersey. In Brooklyn, Ethiopian restaurant Ghenet serves up their communal specialty chicken, Doro Wettt. In Crown Heights, New York, Sherri tastes delicious Caribbean food at The Food Sermon Kitchen, and in the Lower East Side in New York, the Islamic butcher Honest Chops has Halal meat for the masses.

Man Fire Food
- Premiering Tuesday, September 1st at 8:00pmET/5:00pmPT – “Light It Up!”
Host Roger Mooking heads to Bigmista’s Barbecue & Sammich Shop where husband and wife team Neil and Phyllis Strawder spread their smoked meat love in Long Beach, California. Roger and Phyllis roll up their sleeves and build unique barbecue sandwiches. In Door County, Wisconsin, Roger is bowled over by the area’s legendary fish boil. At the Old Post Office Restaurant, Jeremy Klaubauf cooks local white fish, potatoes and onions in a cauldron by engulfing it in flames.

Roger attends the 100 year anniversary of the St. Mary Magdalene Church Picnic in Owensboro, Kentucky. Roger helps hundreds of volunteers to load and light three massive barbecue pits with wood planks, pallets and straw, then it is all hands on deck to prep, cook, flip and mop sauce for mutton, pork butts and chickens. It is an epic barbecue event that will leave everyone speechless.

California’s wine country is the perfect place for an outdoor cookout. Once a year, Tablas Creek Vineyard in Paso Robles hosts a huge party for members of their wine club and to complement the wine, they will roast a swine! Healdsburg is famous for their wineries, their olive oils and a historic landmark called the Dry Creek General Store. In the summer months, they load up the grill and prepare amazing feasts. Roger helps Chef Gia Passalacqua fill an eight foot grill with Dungeness crabs and legs of lamb that have been rubbed with a Mediterranean spice paste. It is a tasty surf-and-turf barbecue!

Roger visits Faith’s Farm in Bonfield, Illinois for an awesome feast cooked on three different fiery contraptions. Roger helps three chefs orchestrate a festive Latin and Mexican-inspired meal. A whole lamb slowly roasts on an asado cross, boar steaks are grilled on a repurposed windmill and pig skins are fried until puffy and crisp in a wood burning oven and stove. It’s a three-alarm fire for a three-star, farm-to-table spread.

Roger is grilling steaks and chickens in California, and smoking a bounty of seafood in Illinois. Roger begins in Orangevale, California to meet restaurateur and caterer Steve Dougherty who specializes in Santa Maria-style barbecue. Roger and Steve season tri-tip steaks and chickens with Cajun spices, and then line them up on the racks of a giant portable grill. In Chicago, Roger visits Calumet Fisheries, an 80-year-old seafood smokehouse. He will help Javier Magallanes load up salmon, trout, whitefish, sable and sturgeon, and smoke them to perfection.

My Grandmother’s Ravioli

Grandpa Louis McMillan, 69, of Fannin, Texas, is a master at the art of barbecue. He knows everything about barbecue: how to apply dry rub and how long to smoke and cook it. Host Mo Rocca learns both his barbecue secrets and the secrets to his success.

Hong Kong-born Grandfather Kam Wah Chui, 77, used to manage a bustling Chinese restaurant in New York City’s Chinatown. Now retired, he spends a lot of time shopping, prepping and cooking for his wife, kids and grandchildren (15 people in all) every day! He teaches host Mo Rocca how to make some Chinese delicacies, including stuffed whole fish, roast pork, and tofu with vegetables. He also gives Mo a primer on the ancient art of Tai Chi.

Sister Marie Pappas, 62, is a kind and energetic nun who lives in a convent in Hopewell Junction, New York. She has dedicated her life to her faith and to teaching young people about religion. Sr. Marie and her fellow nuns teach Mo how to prepare one of their favorite soups with sausage and vegetables, and a pineapple cake that could be described as divine. Sr. Marie also has Mo as a guest on her weekly radio show.

Guelda Barker, 93, is a charming grandmother from the small town of Mount Ayr, Iowa. Guelda is a retired lunch lady who wowed the kids with her many specialties, including spoon burgers, cinnamon rolls, and ham and beans. Mo Rocca visits Guelda during Mount Ayr’s annual town festival, “Ayr Days”, which has a parade, fun activities for kids and fried meat on sticks.

Edna Mae Phillips, 78, is a native of Ida Grove, Iowa. She is a smart, spunky, hilarious lady who is very versatile in the kitchen. She makes a mean fried chicken, preserves and cans fruits and vegetables, bakes pies, and even placed second in a big-time chili competition. She has fourteen kids and forty-six grandkids, so when she and her husband, Tom, celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary, the number of family members attending could approach triple digits. Mo meets Edna for an unforgettable day.
