Featuring earthy eclectic interiors to match its New American cuisine, is the new ORNO restaurant designed by Miami-based hospitality design experts Saladino Design Studios. Led by James Beard Award-nominee Chef Niven Patel, the 3,400 square-feet ORNO is opening early this summer inside the 245-room THēsis Hotel at the new Paseo de la Riviera mixed-used development in Coral Gables by Nolan Reynolds International, a real estate investment, development and hospitality company.
“Inspired by the restaurant’s farm-to-table menu and wood-fire cooking, our design reflects the cuisine by incorporating a natural, organic palette and materials throughout the interiors,” said Sean Saladino, co-founder, Saladino Design Studios. “The design of ORNO provides a modern ambiance that’s both warm and friendly for daytime and sophisticated for nighttime.”
The signature centerpiece of the 110-seat ORNO is the open kitchen. It has a large wood-burning oven set against a brick wall with a wood and brass top and counter seating. Chopped wood and fresh, locally sourced ingredients from the chef’s Homestead farm, Rancho Patel, are on full display for guests to see.
The main dining room has an earthy-color scheme with taupe leather banquettes and modern chairs, wooden tables, brass metal geometric light fixtures, custom-made hanging wood planters and stone inlay flooring. The bar has marble top and walnut wood paneling and high chairs. Arched nooks with glass shelving set against dark green ceramic tiles display the bar spirits.
ORNO’s “THē Library” is an intimate private dining room with a more sultry vibe. The space is surrounded by book shelves, a mirrored wall with a quote made of neon and brown leather banquettes. Pink velvet drapes provide privacy from the main dining area.
ORNO is situated on U.S. 1 across from the University of Miami and adjacent to Jaycee Park and the Riviera neighborhood. It will be open seven days a week serving lunch from 11:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m., and dinner from 5:30 p.m. — 11:00 p.m.
