Concannon Vineyard, America’s oldest, continuously operating winery under the same family label and stewardship, has been growing and producing Cabernet Sauvignon for 131 years. In 1883, James Concannon founded the historic winery, and became one of the first to craft Bordeaux-style blends in California. He was well-known for his meticulous selection of the highest quality vines directly imported from Bordeaux, including Cabernet Sauvignon, from renowned Château Margaux and Château Lafite.
Concannon Vineyard will celebrate the varietal and the winery’s history on International Cabernet Sauvignon Day, Thursday, August 28, at its landmark estate in Livermore and will feature: Tasting Room special flights of Cabernet Sauvignon including limited releases, pre-releases, and barrel samples; Limited and Pre-Release Cabernet wines expertly paired with artisan cheeses; and Concannon Cabernet Sauvignon Clones tours led by Fourth Generation Vintner, John Concannon.
In addition to the special events honoring Cabernet Sauvignon, Concannon has teamed up with ToutSuite Social Club and will be streaming live from Concannon’s Library for a 30 minute interactive show starting at 5PM. Hosted by John Concannon, the show will highlight the winery’s rich Cabernet Sauvignon history. Anyone can join the interactive conversation at ToutSuite.com, tweeting @ConcannonCab, and submitting questions here: http://bit.ly/CabernetDay2014. Participants are encouraged to use the hashtags #ConcannonCabDay and #CabernetDay to engage in real time with the audience. About Concannon Vineyard
Concannon Vineyard is America’s oldest, continuously operating winery under the same family label and stewardship. Founded in 1883, James Concannon established the first successful winery founded by an Irish immigrant and established Concannon as a Founding Family of the California wine industry. Concannon Vineyard’s four generations have made many pioneering contributions which include the famous Concannon Cabernet Clones 7, 8, 11, which are among the most widely planted Cabernet Sauvignon clones in California, as well as the introduction of “America’s First Petite Sirah®”. Located in the Livermore Valley, Concannon Vineyard was first to place its vineyard into the Tri-Valley Conservancy Land Trust and was one of the first to become Certified Sustainable by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA). Committed to preserving the past while engaging the future, Concannon Vineyard’s continuous crafting of outstanding wines of uncompromising quality and character symbolizes building an eternal bond with the past by creating bold, new chapters in Concannon family history.
