Located in California’s oldest wine region, the 63-acre South Coast Winery Resort & Spa plans to re-open its award-winning resort on Monday, June 1, with modified services after its recent hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its sister property, Carter Estate Winery and Resort located nearby on 109 acres, plans to re-open on Wednesday, July 1. Both are owned and operated by Orange County-based Carter Hospitality Group. The two family-owned wineries have garnered over 3,000 distinguished awards and medals collectively since 1981.
To provide guests with plenty of space, South Coast will re-open its spacious 82 villas only and Carter Estate will reopen all 60 bungalow suites on its scheduled date. Both properties will utilize their many outdoor terraces and gardens for dining and wine tasting. Tasting rooms will admit limited guests for food and wine experiences by advance appointment only to ensure physical distancing.
Recently refreshed with new paint, lighting, window treatments and furnishings, South Coast’s villas include comfortable, furnished single and two-bedroom suites with step-out patios to the resort’s vineyards. Gas fireplaces, wall-mounted LCD flat screen TVs and soothing hot tubs complete the relaxed setting.
Recipient of 2019 Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, Carter Estate’s 60 private bungalows either look out to the east for guests to catch the perfect sunrise or to the west for spectacular sunsets, and each includes a private terrace with a seating area just steps from the vineyards.
Both resorts will offer varied distancing dining options, including The Vineyard Rose Restaurant at South Coast Winery Resort, the Vineyard Grill at Carter Estate Winery and Resort and in-room dining delivered to each villa or bungalow’s doorstep.
Health and Safety: Carter Care
To ensure the safety of guests and employees, all guests will be asked to wear face coverings in public spaces and comply with six-foot physical distancing policies. Hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout both resorts, and enhanced sanitation measures utilizing Bioesque sprayers and hospital-grade disinfectants will be used throughout the guestrooms and public areas. Villas and bungalows will be left vacant for a period of time between guest arrivals, and a seal will be placed on all door locks to indicate they haven’t been accessed since they were last cleaned. Bike rentals, meditation walks and outdoor yoga, among other activities will be available for guests.
